Established in 2013, Safe Roads Engineering (SRE) is a leading engineering consulting firm based in Ontario, Canada. We have recently embarked on an exciting phase of company growth. To support this phase, we are seeking a Technical Director - Planning. This role will focus on overseeing and guiding strategic growth and delivering transportation planning projects to ensure they are executed efficiently and meet client and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise and Guidance
- Technical Direction: Provide expert technical guidance on transportation planning methodologies, modeling techniques, and design standards. Develop innovative and effective transportation solutions that address client needs and project requirements.
- Support the strategic growth of the business organically through client relationships and by acquisition.

Project Leadership and Management
- Project Oversight: Lead and manage transportation planning projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Project Planning: Develop and implement detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocations, and deliverables.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication of project progress, issues, and solutions.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and other relevant parties, to gather input and address concerns.

Team Leadership and Management
- Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of transportation planners and engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure effective project execution.
- Professional Growth: Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of financial resources and adherence to budget constraints.
- Resource Allocation: Oversee the allocation of resources, including personnel, technology, and materials, to optimize project performance.

Performance Monitoring and Management
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project progress and success.
- Reporting: Prepare and deliver progress reports, project updates, and performance evaluations to senior management and clients.
- Risk Identification: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with transportation planning projects. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and address issues proactively.
- Public Presentations: Represent the consultancy in public meetings and presentations, effectively communicating project goals, benefits, and impacts.
- Feedback Incorporation: Collect and incorporate public and stakeholder feedback into project planning and development.
- Documentation: Ensure comprehensive documentation of project plans, decisions, and changes.
- Report Preparation: Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and other documentation required for project approvals and stakeholder communication.

- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all planning activities comply with local, regional, and national regulations and standards. Implement and enforce technical standards and best practices to ensure high-quality project outcomes.
- Industry Trends: Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in transportation planning. Incorporate relevant innovations and new methodologies into transportation planning practices to enhance project outcomes.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in transportation planning, project management, and leadership roles within an engineering consultancy.
- Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles, modeling software, and industry standards.
- Effective leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide project teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address and resolve complex transportation planning issues.
