Job Summary
Under the direction of the Site Superintendent and Maintenance Operations Manager, the Crew Lead will be responsible for leading a team of up to 4 crew members and performing a variety of tasks in the maintenance of residential, commercial, and municipal landscapes, while providing exceptional customer service.**Major Responsibilities**:
Demonstrating safety leadership and safe work practices at all times
Working in accordance with ULS policies and procedures
Providing exceptional customer service and maintaining ULS client relationships
Demonstrating strong leadership skills and overseeing a team of up to 4 crew members
Overseeing crews in the performance of grass cutting, garden maintenance, equipment operation and, general landscape maintenance activities
Operating knowledge of a variety of landscape equipment with valid operating certifications
Maintenance equipment trouble shooting
Overseeing the loading, driving of trucks and trailers, and execution of site work
Ability to establish work schedules and procedures and coordinate activities with other work units
Ability to resolve work related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports
Overseeing daily hazard assessments
Ability to train workers on required job duties and company policies
Additional tasks as required
**Education, Experience, Required Skills/Competencies**
**Basic/Required Qualifications**
Minimum High School Diploma
Minimum 3-5 years of previous experience in a similar role
Demonstrated leadership experience
Valid Driver’s License and proof of driver’s abstract
Operating certifications for various types of equipment and tools
Skilled use of common hand and power tools relative to landscape maintenance
Ability to complete measurements and mathematical calculations
Exceptional Customer Service skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
Ability to maintain simple records and make verbal reports
Strong adherence to ULS safety policies and protocol
Legally authorized to work in Canada
**Preferred Qualifications**
Previous landscaping, snow removal and/or maintenance experience is an asset
Ability to take direction, give direction, learn and work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to maintain composure and be a role model especially under stressful situations
Motivated and energetic team player with an attention to detail and great work ethic
**Working Conditions/Physical Demands**
Ability to perform moderate to heavy intensive tasks for extended periods of time
Working in a variety of outdoor environments with the ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, noisy, wet, and dusty environments
Physically Demanding position
Significant standing, walking, driving
Operating heavy equipment and Repetitive Motions
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push and pull weights of up to 80 lbs
