Connect Group’s projects are oil & gas projects in new construction, maintenance & shutdowns, refineries, mines, processing plants, conveyors & pipe racks in the maintenance industry.

We are currently looking for a dynamic and self-motivated estimator, possessing a solid business acumen and strong ability to identify labor, material, and time requirements by evaluating proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.

**Position**: Estimator, Industrial

This role will be responsible for estimating costs and preparing proposals in response to client requests for industrial construction and maintenance scopes of work. Estimates and proposals will align with Connect Group’s company’s objectives, will be competitive, and will utilize to the fullest advantage the expertise of the project team and previous experience.

**Position Location**: Nisku, Alberta

**Responsibilities** will include:

- Perform detailed quantity take-off of all equipment, material and labor required to complete the project as per contract specifications to ensure accuracy of pricing, including both fabrication and field projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and any concerns are addressed promptly.
- Review tender documentation to identify execution risks, develop project plans, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Develop and implement estimating processes and standards to improve efficiency and accuracy. Ensure that proposals contain all complete forms and attachments as per client requests and requirements. Ensure that the process is well communicated and recorded.
- Analyze market trends and vendor pricing to ensure competitive and realistic estimates.
- Create RFP packages for subcontractors and complete a gap/overlap analysis. Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure reliable project delivery.
- Attend pre-and-post-tender close meetings as required with potential clients.
- Ability to provide direction on scope and requirements to the suppliers and sub-contractors based on specifications included in the tender. Ability to review subcontractors’ pricing, inclusions, exclusions or qualifications for price evaluation and sub-contractor selection.
- Developed construction execution plans that are effective and support the scheduled activities.
- Identify pricing risks with full comprehension of the tender documentation, develop proposal terms and conditions to support/defend pricing, and mitigate risks.
- Estimate project costs for a given project under various contract styles, unit price, lump sum, time and materials (T&M), and using a quantity-based system or conceptual proposal.
- Support the project execution team as they solidify a WBS structure, develop tracking tools (including schedules), and other related reports. Including proposal schedules using MS Project and/or Primavera P6.

Maintain and compile a database of historical project data and best practices to improve future estimates.

**Requirements**:

- 7-10 years of estimation experience in heavy industrial with site experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and professional manner.
- Highly proficient with Mechanical Equipment/Piping, Drawings, Schematics and Specifications
- Trade or Engineering certification
- Knowledge of welding /manufacturing codes and standards is an asset (CSA W59, CSA W47.1, ASME, API, AWS).
- Proficient with other trades drawings and specifications is an asset
- General construction knowledge and the integration of other trades work, understand specifications, methods and procedures
- Capable of identifying constructability issues in complex situations and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule
- Experience in preparing proposal documents such as Preliminary Schedules, Manpower Loading Charts, Work Execution Plans, Organization Charts, etc.
- Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as; Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Projects)
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities over long hours in a fast-paced environment
- Occasional travel to job sites for bidding and project kick off meetings
- Commitment to a safety-oriented work environment
- Successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
- Familiarity with Alberta’s industrial landscape, including key suppliers, contractors, and regional prici
