**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Field Services, this position is responsible to assist with providing coverage in all facets of the environment team. This includes focus on areas of Governance & Sustainability and Field Services. The 8- or 12-month co-op student provides technical guidance and supports compliance to both operations and capital project management from planning stages through to execution/completion. This position will require supporting the implementation of ATCO’s ISO 14001 compliant EMS. To properly support and advise other functional groups, a key responsibility of this position is to identify and develop key working relationships with business partners.

**Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities**:
Responsibility Area #1 - Technical Support

Supporting regional environmental advisors by conducting site visits for projects in construction and reclamation.
Complete environmental inspections and ensure findings are entered into the ATCO incident management program.
Assist with nest sweeps and recommending mitigation.
Assist with developing environmental mitigation measures.
Assist Environmental Advisors with duties on projects

Responsibility Area #2 - Reclamation Support

Conduct post-construction reclamation assessments and support development of reclamation plans.
Complete reclamation monitoring of right-of-ways and substations.
Develop reclamation assessment reports.
Updating project records and sharepoint sites on a daily basis with reclamation details.

Responsibility Area #3 - Incident Management

Support advisors in responding to environmental incidents in a timely fashion.
Assist in incident review, reporting, and incident investigations, where required, to determine root causes.
Work with third-party contractors and ensure incidents are dealt with accordingly, as per ATCO requirements.

Responsibility Area #4 - EMS, EPP

Work with the Field Services Team on updating, implementing, and auditing the EMS.
Assist environmental advisors with local initiatives.
Support Field Services Team in delivering environmental presentations.
Working with other departments, you will implement and provide guidance to field staff on the EMS.
Educate and support Construction and Operations & Maintenance staff on project-specific environmental requirements outlined in the EPP and Environmental Alignment Sheets.

Responsibility Area #5 - Data Management Support

Assist with data management for sustainability reporting.
Assist with NPRI, GHG, and TEIR annual reporting
Manage the intake of environmental compliance data, verifying accuracy and completeness against compliance commitments
Working with emissions advisors to identify project data management needs and requirements
Organize, implement, and review correct data importing, data exporting, and data collection.

**Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:
Currently enrolled in a relevant field of study and a co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience program
Map and air photo interpretation.
Plant and invasive species identification.
Soil sampling and classification knowledge/experience.
Data management
Experience with hand-held GPS devices.
Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent organizational abilities.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
A valid Class 5 Operator’s License issued by the Alberta Government.
Previous UTV/ATV experience would be considered an asset.
This position may be based out of regional offices. This role will require travel across the province; field time is expected to be up to 75% of the time and may involve overnight stays. ATCO will provide a vehicle for field work.
