The Opportunity
In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn from a diverse group of environmental professionals while contributing to various energy development projects, including coal mining, oil sands mining, in situ oil sands development, conventional oil and gas, and pipelines. You will gain both technical and regulatory experience by working with science, legislation, policy, and Alberta’s regulatory framework for responsible energy development. Additionally, you will interact with a wide range of technical professionals, communicate with rights holders, and contribute to data-driven recommendations.
What your day-to-day will look like:- Perform data collection, management, analysis, and interpretation related to energy sector environmental performance.- Support geospatial mapping and data visualization initiatives.- Conduct focused case study research on issues related to air quality, water resources, reclamation and remediation, and environmental monitoring.
What we’re looking for in you:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Environmental Science, Earth Science, Geographic Information Systems, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.- Familiarity with the environmental impacts associated with mining and oil and gas projects is an asset.- Strong analytical, organizational, and data management skills.- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on technical writing.

- Proof of enrollment in a registered post-secondary institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term, or enrollment in a registered co-op program will be a condition of hire.- Should an individual with the required qualifications not be available, applicants with closely related qualifications may be considered.
