Reporting to the Community Investment Supervisor, the Community Investment & Public Safety Specialist provides leadership for
the planning, development, coordination and delivery of innovative and measurable electricity and natural gas public safety
programming to keep our customers safe. In addition, will partner with select events and organizations to create customized
strategic communications and marketing opportunities to support Manitoba Hydro's brand promise of Energy for Life as well as
Strategy 2040. This will be enabled by enhancing the corporate brand and reputation across multiple customer segments; building
support for community investment and public safety initiatives through the development and maintenance of effective working
relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; ensuring the effectiveness of Manitoba Hydro's community investment and
public safety activities; and proactively identify opportunities and provide recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of
communications and community investment activities.
**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Plan, develop, and deliver energy education and safety programs; and produce supporting resource materials for students
and educators at all levels of the education system, including conducting in-services for school divisions and coordinating
Youth Safety Presentations for students in EastMan and Winnipeg schools in collaboration with the Manitoba Electrical
Museum & Education Centre;
Identify needs, then develop and prepare seasonal public safety messages, informational materials and programs suitable for
select customer segments (i.e., residential; youth; construction; new Canadians; etc.) in line with overall communications to
support Energy for Life and Strategy 2040 as appropriate;
- As required, work with Legal and Insurance Services in the preparation of public safety advertising and marketing summaries
with respect to civil and criminal court proceedings;
- Research, propose, deliver and evaluate effective community investment and corporate social responsibility programming for
EastMan that combines media selection, on-site activation, and cross-promotion for maximum positive communication and
reputational impact;
- Prepare analytical summaries of annual and one-time special events to evaluate impact(s) on overall Community Investment
Strategy; Energy for Life brand positioning; the External & Indigenous Relations and Communications Business Plan; and the
Corporate Communications Integrated Strategic Communications Plan; and Strategy 2040 as appropriate.
- Systematically review potential liability risks with respect to public contacts with Manitoba Hydro-owned plant and maintain
collaborative working relationships with key external partners like the Office of the Fire Commissioner, SafeWork Manitoba
and colleagues at other energy utilities across Canada;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal departments by providing input into the pipeline system integrity
management program, waterways management program; etc.
- Represent the department on committees, teams and special projects as required
- Provide writing support to the Corporate Communications unit as required.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- A bachelor's degree in business administration or other relevant discipline from a recognized University plus two years of
direct experience in communication, education, resource development and marketing.
- OR
- A two-year diploma in a related discipline and a minimum of four years of directly related experience in communication,
education, resource development and marketing.
- Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing and developing community investment, safety and education
programs from conceptual design to delivery, including demonstrated experience in communications or public relations and a
drive to provide outstanding customer service.
