**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Regional Director of Safety, Western Canada, the Senior Manager of Safety will be responsible for leading the BC Safety team (HSQA) in providing support to units and regional leadership. Assist in executing the Compass Programs and ensuring compliance with the relevant laws and regulations with respect to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and Quality Assurance (Food Safety). This role will be responsible for ensuring the team is effectively implementing and monitoring Compass’ Occupational Health & Safety and Quality Assurance programs across all sectors for the Province of BC.

- Provide leadership and serve as a point of escalation to the BC Safety Team on all safety matters (programs, policies, regulations). Included in this are recruting, leading, coaching, and developing a team of Safety professionals to achieve department goals
- Provide coaching and advice to opeartional leadership on best practices in order to facilitate the implementation of strategic goals and awareness of emerging trends and policies. Act also as a sector lead
- Analyze regional/unit data using Steritech portal, Origami, My Learnigs 24/7 and MyLMS; keep up-to-date on policy changes, government initiatives; and deliver presentations as necessary to operational leadership to provide updates on Safety performance, FS and H&S incident trends, root causes of issues, corrective actions, policy changes, etc.
- Conduct unit level assessments and provide support to Safety Specialists in the assessment of their regions. Determine compliance with safety programs, policies, and regulations, including gap analysis and review of regulatory requirements. Participate in safety walks with above unit leaders
- Participate in and lead projects for the continuous improvement of CGC safety programs, including consulting with leadership to develop action plans and programs
- Work directly with the HSQA Programs team with respect to the development and management of safety programs

- Leadership and managerial skills
- Working knowledge of federal and provincial occupational and food safety regulations and industry best practices
- Experience developing, implementing, and improving management systems and processes
- Experience (practical and theoretical knowledge) and hands on experience with conducting safety management systems audits and food safety inspections
- Customer service-related skills
- Ability to interact with, coach, and influence operational leadership, and work with other organizational levels
- Project management skills
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills,Interpersonal and communication skills
- Education in H&S, Public Health or other formal Food Safety curriculum
- Driver’s License is a requirement
- CRSP/CHSC, CPH or continuous food safety education (HACCP, GFSI etc.)
- Advanced Food Safety Instructor Required
