Shared Services is hiring a Health & Safety Manager to be responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and operational management to further develop, evaluate and improve PavCo’s organizational health and safety policies. Reporting to the Senior Director, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, the Manager will also drive process improvement initiatives oversight and guidance across the organization.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:

- Provides overall leadership, direction and integration of Health and Safety policies and programs in compliance with relevant legislation.
- Ensures organizational health and safety policies, programs and standards are developed, implemented and evaluated based on appropriate prevention and risk management priorities and in compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and organizational policies.
- Conducts or directs research to identify and characterize health and safety hazards and risks, evaluates the Organizational Health and Safety Program and processes, and prepares reports of findings with recommendations for action including associated costs analysis.
- Drives and champions the organizational hazardous material management policy, procedure, and process. In working with the site level health and safety expertise, ensure hazardous material is properly handled.
- Along with Human Resources and department leaders, provide relevant health and safety training opportunities to staff and maintain Health and Safety training records.
- Investigate incidents, provide appropriate reports for PavCo management and Work Safe BC, follow up with recommendations on the prevention and mitigation of such risks.
- Develops consistency of programs across BC Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre where applicable.
- Provides consultation to senior leadership and site Health and Safety representatives in the implementation of Health and Safety policies, processes and standards.
- Chair PavCo joint Health and Safety committee(s).
- Measures and evaluates overall Health and Safety performance, and deliver solutions and advice for inefficiencies to senior leadership of related teams;
- Conducts spot checks with work sites to ensure compliance, including assessing safety protocol of contractors and their teams.
- Engages in key strategic industry committees, events, and conferences.
- Provides insight and oversight into audit and inspection protocols.

**WHAT YOU WILL BRING**:

- 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing a diverse organizational health and safety program in a multi-site organization.
- Excellent working knowledge of BC OH&S regulations and standards.
- Experience in developing, implementing, maintaining and evaluating occupational health and safety management systems and platforms.
- Education and experience in developing health and safety training strategies and programs.
- Accreditation as an H&S Professional, such as CRSP.
- Knowledge of government health and safety rules and regulations for the construction industry.
- Ability to communicate and enforce safety protocol with on-site and management level staff.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation.
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability and diligence in follow-through.
- Collaborative, team friendly approach.
