Now Hiring - Market Supervisor
Reporting to the Manager, Derivatives Trading, the Market Supervisor ensures that all products listed on the Montreal’s Automated System (SAM) are operational and trading in the appropriate sessions (extended and/or regular). The Market Supervisor will also identify and analyze any daily operational problems that could affect the transparency, accessibility, liquidity or efficiency of the market. They will be required to accomplish any duties that facilitate market access to participants. The Market Supervisor will identify and report any trading infractions (real time) to the Bourse’s Regulatory Division for further investigation.
Key Accountabilities and Challenges- Ensure that the electronic trading system is operational for the opening and closing of all derivative instruments listed; this includes verifying the expiration, creation and addition of trading instruments which is managed by the referential administration personnel.-
- Facilitate the validation for suitability of any manual transaction and to promptly and accurately enter those transactions into the electronic trading engine.- Ensure that quotes are properly reflected on the electronic market:
- Take into account economic news and measure its impact on the market;
- Detect unusual behavior during the session and conduct a preliminary analysis;
- Assist market participants to ensure optimal access to the market;
- Verify and manage product parameters (tick rules, schedules, etc.);
- Manage and report all market incidents and operations;
- Establish and disseminate daily settlement prices.- Develop and maintain problem logs or records that are a direct result from daily trading sessions.- Propose appropriate amendments to rules and procedures in order to improve the quality and efficiency of market operations, and contribute to the preparation of all documentation required to implement those amendments.- Collaborate with Business Analysts to define and conceptualize functional requirements for new electronic trading facilities.- Support the Bourse’s Quality Assurance (QA) team in testing new trading functionalities in the Bourse’s test environment.- Produce monthly and quarterly reports with respect to trading activities as required by regulatory authorities.- Help to develop and maintain good relations with users.- Report possible infractions of trading rules to the Analysts, Market Surveillance, and collaborate with them in conducting investigations.- Work closely with personnel from other departments to bring new products and/or trading functionalities to the market.- Perform any other related task assigned by his/her immediate superior.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ practical experience in the Derivatives Markets, preferably in the trading area;- Bachelor of economics or administration with a major in finance or a related field, or equivalent experience;- Canadian Securities Institute Futures and/or Options accreditation;- Bilingual, French and English, written and spoken;- Knowledge of Microsoft Word / Advanced Excel.- Resistance to stress;- Customer service orientated;- Autonomy and initiative;- Leadership;- Ability to effectively communicate (especially over the telephone);- Judgment;- Strong decision making abilities- Ability to establish effective interpersonal relations;- Ability to manage priorities;- Able to work on an extensive and/or changing schedule (22hrs) between 7:00 pm and 5:00 pm.- Comfortable with a complex computer environment;
Assets:
- Previous trading experience in futures and/or options- Knowledge of Google for work suite
