**About the Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Senior Director, Population and Public Health, the Director of Strategic Policy & Planning is a member of the Provincial Public Health Leadership Team (PPHLT) and is responsible for providing direction and leadership to the PPHLT and core functions.
In collaboration with the PPHLT the Director of Strategic Policy & Planning, leads the development of PH strategic plans, priority setting, project plans for strategic initiatives and quality improvement. The incumbent provides project leadership expertise to support implementation of new projects and/or change initiatives and supports the completion of reporting requirements. The Director of Strategic Policy & Planning has accountability to ensure that the projects and priorities support excellence and achievement of Nova Scotia Public Health Standards and Protocols and Accreditation Standards and are aligned with NSH vision. This position also leads the development and implementation of a quality framework for public health and works to ensure alignment with the NSH quality framework and strategic planning through engagement of stakeholders and capacity building. The Director of Strategic Policy and Planning ensures project management approaches, and a quality framework is applied to the implementation and integration of provincial projects and system priorities. The Director of Strategic Policy & Planning ensures the development, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of training programs for Public Health staff in collaboration with Interprofessional Practice and Learning. This Director will also oversee the development, improvement and operational insight of program content areas for Public Health and will support related PH provincial teams.
The Director collaborates across the system with NSHA provincial programs including but not limited to, Quality Improvement and Safety, Business Productivity Services, and Interprofessional Practice and Learning. The position also works in partnership with Department of Health & Wellness - Public Health Branch.
The Director demonstrates a core set of public health attributes and values, applies public health core competencies to all their work and is accountable to provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice.
**About You**:
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Baccalaureate degree in health science or other relevant field is required
- Masters degree (Public Health, Public Administration, Health Services Administration, Community Health and epidemiology or other related field) or equivalent experience is preferred
- Licensing as per professional association requirements if applicable
- A minimum of seven years' experience in relevant leadership position; progressive experience in management and administration in a health care/ community setting, including financial and human resource management.
- Experience in strategic leadership in the planning, development and evaluation of public health programs, services and initiatives based on community assessments, data and best practice models.
- Ability to assess and anticipate future needs ,potential problems, directions and development for all aspects of strategic, financial, operational and human resource management.
- Ability to develop and sustain coalitions, alliances, and partnerships with the members of the health care sectors and external agencies
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Core Competencies for Public Health
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders using a variety of methods.
