Camp Gedi Summer Camp Assistant

As an **Assistant Teacher**, you’ll work closely with our two Summer Camp Teachers to support a group of 25 children ages 5-12 over two three-week sessions (July and August), including a special Family Festival Weekend at Haute Goat Farm.

**Key Details**
- **Location**: Etienne Brûlé Park and surrounding Toronto neighborhoods
- **Duration**: July 7-25 and August 5-22, 2025 (plus Family Festival Weekends: July 19-20 and August 16-17)
- **Job Type**: Seasonal, Part-Time
- **Salary**: $5,500 flat rate (includes training and Family Festival Weekends)
- **Training**: Paid in-person training day in June + live online coaching course

**What You’ll Do**

**Support Experiential, Child-Led Learning**
- Assist Teachers in leading daily activities that spark creativity, collaboration, and discovery.
- Join in (and sometimes help lead) nature exploration, community projects, storytelling sessions, and games that build emotional awareness and problem-solving skills.

**Foster Community and Connection**
- Model empathy, kindness, and respectful communication every day.
- Help create a safe and welcoming environment where every camper feels seen, supported, and valued.
- Collaborate with Teachers and campers to nurture a culture of shared responsibility, trust, and joy.

**Encourage Compassionate Inquiry**
- Support campers in asking questions, trying new things, and reflecting on their experiences.
- Observe campers' strengths and growth areas and contribute to feedback shared with families.

**Explore the City as a Community**
- Help guide campers during our third-week daily excursions to community organizations, parks, and hidden gems around Toronto, encouraging curiosity, civic engagement, and wonder.

**Support Family Festival Weekends**
- Participate in our Family Festival Weekends at Haute Goat Farm — a chance to celebrate community with campers and their families through nature activities, goat yoga, disc golf, collaborative art projects, and more.

**You’ll Thrive in This Role If You**:

- Have experience working with children ages 5-12 in a camp, school, or child-centered environment
- Communicate with warmth, clarity, and empathy — with kids, grownups, and teammates
- Are comfortable being outside all day (rain or shine) and moving with flexibility
- Are excited to model and encourage social-emotional learning and collaboration
- Are energized by creativity, exploration, and real-world learning experiences
- Value inclusivity, accessibility, and community-led approaches
- Hold (or are in the process of obtaining) First Aid and CPR certification
