Position Summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Recreation & Community Development, the Fitness & Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, supervision and delivery of quality fitness and wellness programs and services tailored specifically to the requirements of the community.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Model quality customer service on a daily basis
- Recruit, schedule and supervise staff and ensure adherence to City policies and procedures
- Develop, coordinate, promote and implement a diversified fitness and wellness program ensuring the highest quality standards
- Motivate, inspire, develop, and influence staff and volunteers to their maximum performance and potential
- Recommend changes in program schedules and create innovative programs based on emerging trends and community interest
- Purchase and maintain an inventory of program supplies
- Monitor fitness centre operations including equipment maintenance, procurement, inventory control and client use
- Promote fitness membership sales, actively market fitness and wellness programs/centres internally/externally, encourage drop-in sales through facility tours and client engagement.
- Maintain City recreation standards in program delivery to ensure corporate efficiencies
- Maintain required statistics and prepare reports as required
- Assist with monitoring and recommending annual budget
- Ensure instructor credentials are current
- Audit fitness and wellness classes regularly to ensure program quality and safety
- Liaise with members, community groups, fitness network and other municipalities to ensure program delivery meets expectations and service standards
- Provide fitness consultations, personal training and fitness facility orientations as required
- Other duties as required

Qualifications, Competencies
- 2-year diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion or equivalent
- 2 years of related experience in program planning, development and implementation including 1 year experience in a supervisory or staff leadership role
- Must hold and maintain a minimum of: Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer, Standard First Aid and C.P.R. - C Certification

Skills, Abilities, Work Demands
- Knowledge of and experience in fitness recreation program design and delivery
- Knowledge of and experience in fitness equipment maintenance and preventative programs
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work in team environment
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to establish effective working relationships
- Ability to work in a changing environment and have an interest in broadening your experience is desired
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete work in an accurate and efficient manner
- Demonstrated ongoing professional development and knowledge of best practices in the Fitness & Wellness field
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with all levels of staff, program participants, members, and the general public
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, fitness standards and legislation, and industry trends
- Knowledge and experience with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Proficient computer skills in Word and Excel
- Experience using recreation management (membership/registration/booking) software
- Valid Ontario Class “G” license and access to a vehicle is considered an asset
