Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario keeps families close, by providing accommodation and services for parents and caregivers close to their ill or injured children while receiving care at one of our partner hospitals.

**The Opportunity**

Reporting to the Director of Development and Donor Engagement the Community Engagement Specialist (CES) is responsible for a dynamic and diverse portfolio, supporting community fundraising initiatives, stewardship of event donors and participants and execution of online fundraising events.

The Community Engagement Specialist will serve as the lead contact for all regional community fundraising efforts in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario (RMHC-SWO). The CES will work with leadership to expand our community presence across our service area, with a focus on building and maintaining key relationships. Working closely with the Development Team and contract event planners, the CES will ensure stewardship and solicitation of Third Parties, Event Donors and Participants are being met. The CES will also act as key ambassador for RMHC-SWO, greeting and engaging large donors at key times of the year and ensuring the broader team and the communities are aware of events.

**Key Deliverables**
- Responsible for overall third party event fundraising revenue stream across the chapter, including promotion, oversight, coordination of stewardship and recognition, and assigning staff lead fundraiser
- Key community ambassador and donor steward for high profile third party events e.g., Drew Doughty Hockey Tournament, John Aarts Group
- Develop and maintain an inventory annually of third party events, monitoring and reporting on community event fundraising proceeds
- Champion RMHC Canada Fundraising platform to promote use by third parties and in the community
- In-House Expert on Greater Giving Platform to execute annual on-line auctions for Clays for Kids, RMHC-SWO Golf Classic and the Holiday Auction
- Build relationships with donors and key stakeholders to support signature event execution
- Work closely with the Director, Fund Development and Donor Engagement and Major Gifts Officer to secure and steward event sponsors and participants

**The Qualifications**

We are looking for a leader with the following skills:

- College or University degree in related field: Event Management, Business, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience working with Donor Software
- Experience with Raisers Edge an asset
- Experience working with Greater Giving Platform anasset
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- Skilled in public speaking, persuasive writing, networking, active listening and ability to adapt messaging to different audiences
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Knowledge and experience in a variety of social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc.)
- Demonstrated understanding of fundraising standards and processes (including knowledge of CRA guidelines)
- Demonstrated commitment to building and maintaining long-term relationship with donors
- A commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment with staff, volunteers, families, donors and the general public
- Passion for the mission of RMHC-SWO
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. (weight of a box of paper)
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
- Possess a clean driving record and a reliable mode of transportation
