**What you will do**
- Provide first-level supervision of the logistics personnel (for example, daily tasks, coaching, performance reviews, etc.);
- Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiate proof of delivery documents;
- May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment. May occasionally operate shrink-wrap machine;
- Ensure day-to-day quality of all products, processes, and data in the Shipping area;
- Coordinate the daily planning and scheduling of incoming and outgoing shipments and transportation;
- Ensure operational excellence by maximizing the full utilization of loads and efficiency of deliveries and work with business partners to prioritize logistics/transportation activities;
- Help to develop and implement operational strategy and key performance indicators and effectively manage resources to ensure achievement of targets;
- Ensure that processes and documentation are in compliance with transportation regulations and legislation;
- Verification of shipments, freight costs and lift equipment maintenance.
- Initiate continuous improvements as they relate to cost reductions, reduced cycle time, and improved process quality;
- Support employee development and ensure necessary training is received;
- Motivate and engage employees, provide leadership and direction, and evaluate employee performance;
- Extensive knowledge of courier systems, such as, FedEx, Purolator, UPS and Canpar/Loomis required. Proactive tracking and communication to service team essential;
- Coordinate with material handlers to get shipments prepared and/or shipped accordingly along with scheduling and planning for inbound shipments for receiving
- Ensure proper level of inventory is maintained for production supplies; participate in monthly cycle counts and inventory audits
- Special attention required to jobs that have breakdowns, distribution lists or special labeling or shipping info;
- Work closely with management to understand the volume and resource scheduling plan for orders and the respective deadlines which must be achieved;
- Ensure different products can move between businesses, on time and in the correct quantities;
- Provide transit times and shipment quotes to CSR’s and estimating by using our local carriers or Third-Party carriers;
- Assist in coordinating the transportation of finished products to the customers;
- Oversee all warehouse services, including storage, material movement, shipping, handling, maintenance and administrative duties;
- Strong telephone etiquette when calling external trucking companies or internal clients to set up shipments or book delivery appointments;
- Personally commit and provide strong leadership in health and safety and ensure world class results in safety, quality, waste, continuous improvement and 5S;
- Maximize synergy and foster collaboration among departments, service providers and customers;
- Occasional extended hours may be necessary.

**What you have to offer**
- Post-Secondary education in Logistics Management and or equivalent combination of education or experience;
- Proven project management and people management experience;
- General knowledge of relevant transportation planning, effective organizational and time management skills;
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines;
- Strong capability to work within the organization and harmoniously within a team environment is required;
- Fast paced environment, must be able to handle stress with an emphasis on exceeding customer satisfaction and expectations;
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Good understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel (intermediate experience required);
- Good understanding of shipping processes within a manufacturing environment;
- Must be extremely self-motivated and able to work under mínimal supervision;
- Geographical knowledge of Southern Ontario;
