**Our Team**:
In collaboration with Waterloo Region schools, regional programs, and community partner organizations, the Dental Program supports the department in achieving optimal dental health outcomes in the population.

**The Opportunity**:
Supervises the delivery and administration of dental programming, including oral health screening in schools. Leads and maintains quality assurance practices, including training and support to dental hygienists and other staff supporting dental clinics and oral health programming to ensure effective, efficient, consistent, and high-quality program delivery, and compliance with Ministry guidelines, Provincial Public Health Standards, legislation, and prescribed regulations and standards.

Supervises Dental Hygienists and students. Assists to administer contracts for clinic dentists and acts as a contact to provide operational guidance and support.
Supervises the delivery of dental programs, including oral health screenings in schools as part of provincial programs. Looks after program administration and operational requirements (e.g., scheduling staff, school communications, data tracking).
Provides consultation and support to staff who provide clinical treatment and preventive services in the Region’s dental clinics and school settings, including case management support for individuals in need of urgent treatment.
Implements, maintains, and/or develops quality assurance practices (e.g., infection prevention and control), policies, procedures, systems, and standardized protocols for consistent, high quality, program delivery. Supervises the development and maintenance of procedures and manuals.
Orients and trains staff and students in program delivery, policies, and procedures. Develops training plans and content. Monitors staff practices, identifies issues, and develops, recommends, and implements new and revised procedures and protocols.
Supervises the maintenance of program data and client information. Performs regular audits of clinical/program records in collaboration with others to ensure confidentiality, security, and compliance with organizational policy and professional standards; identifies issues and initiates corrective action. Has contact with Ministry staff regarding systems and operational program requirements.
Leads/coordinates regular team meetings, knowledge exchange, and professional practice meetings.
Participates in and supports staff involvement in program research and evaluation, using a health equity lens.
Participates in and supports implementation of priority initiatives (e.g., health equity, electronic medical records).
Assists the Manager in the development and maintenance of service contracts/agreements (e.g., with dentists), operational planning, and budgeting. Monitors clinic budget; reconciles dentist hours with invoicing before payment; and notifies manager of budget status. Authorizes payments and has a p-card for program purchases, within defined limit.
Oversees the use, custody and maintenance of program equipment, materials, and supplies. Provides input into purchases for new clinic equipment, repairs, and other operational requirements.
Contributes to dental program service statistics monitoring, projections, and reports, including to reports to Council.
Participates as a member of the divisional management team (e.g., collaborates on divisional priorities, operational plans, strategic communications, policies/protocols/procedures).
Informs Manager of significant and sensitive situations and issues. Responds to escalated concerns and questions from parents and caregivers.
Mobilizes staff in emergency situations according to the departmental Emergency Response Plan, ensuring action is taken to minimize health consequences for citizens.
Backs up the Manager and members of the Division’s management team as required.
Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge of the theories and principles of public health management, including health protection and promotion, and knowledge and skill in dental practices, processes, regulations, and standards, acquired through a Dental Hygiene diploma or related degree.
Must have current registration to practice as a Dental Hygienist in Ontario.
