Job Summary

The Systems Analyst II will take a pivotal leadership role in overseeing and resolving a high volume of identity incidents that impact student matriculation. This leading position ensures that identity-related issues are addressed promptly to prevent delays in student enrollment and start dates. Acting as a key liaison, the Systems Analyst II will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Workday Student, LLIS, ASMT, and Student Enrollment, to deliver effective incident resolution. By proactively driving these efforts, the analyst will play an essential role in maintaining seamless university operations and enhancing the student experience.

Organizational Status

As UBC’s user community continues to grow outside its traditional organizational boarders so does the complexity of our user ecosystem and the need to bolster our information security controls. This leads to the need to validate users with high degree of certainty, their entitlements to our IT services as well as access governance. With the increase in our user base the need to auto provision and de-provision with extreme accuracy is also required to ensure a sustainable operating model.

Work Performed

Specific Duties:

- Leads the handling of resolving high volumes of identity-related incidents that impact student matriculation, ensuring timely resolution before students' start dates to prevent enrollment delays.
- Serves as the senior point of contact for resolving complex or sensitive indentity incidents, leveraging technical expertise and interpersonal skills to provide timely and effective solutions while maintaining a positive end-user experience.
- Champions cross-functional collaboration by driving strategic technical partnerships with key teams, including Enrolment Services, IAM, LLIS, and ASMT, ensuring seamless coordination and effective incident resolution to maintain smooth operational workflows.
- Oversees business process optimization by analyzing and evaluating user feedback, current workflows, and proposed business processes to identify system needs, recommend innovative solutions, and streamline operations for maximum effectiveness.
- Guides documentation and knowledge sharing by developing and refining comprehensive documentation, including user manuals, technical guides, and system dependency analyses, ensuring clarity and value for all technical teams.
- Provides expert tier technical support, diagnosing and resolving intricate identity workflow issues with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term preventative solutions.
- Facilitates the development of best practices, standards, procedures and quality objectives across systems infrastructure or platforms.
- Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Core Duties:

- Maintains a deep understanding of critical key student activities and timelines such as admission, course registration, tuition payment to appropriately prioritize and escalate merge work based on the impact to these processes.
- Makes decisions on design of the solutions that ensure no impact to student matriculation or a student’s ability to complete their key activities and responsibilities.
- Provide leadership in executing identity merge processes for diverse student streams (admissions, credit students, extended learners, external learners), ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and data governance policies.
- Resolving complex failures and escalating student related failures and risks related to student activities to Enrolment Services leadership.
- Leads the resolution of CWL accounts and affiliated identifiers issues. This would include validating account own
