**Summary of Duties**:
Reports to and carries out work under the direction of a designated manager. The Parks Project Coordinator contributes to the goals and objectives of the Parks and Forestry Division by coordinating the planning, design and construction of the City's parks and open space projects, and coordinating the City’s commemorative program and supporting community-led projects in parks. This position applies technical expertise in completing a wide range of related duties, providing advice and recommendations and working across divisions and service areas to support projects.
**Work Performed**:
- Serves as the project coordinator for capital projects from planning to implementation, including research, coordination with others, design concepts, public engagement, detailed design, cost estimates, procurement activities, site supervision, contract administration, budget control, scheduling, inspection and payment.
- Coordinates the City’s commemorative program, community projects, ensures customer satisfaction and facilitates process improvements as required.
- Prepares tree planting plans and coordinates and administers tree planting contracts on city parkland.
- Performs site inspections, inventory, and analysis exercises to minimize risk and better inform various master plans, design, and construction processes.
- Generates planning strategies and mapping for both internal and external use, utilizing professional software programs such as GIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
- Attends and may chair meetings with other Divisions consultants, contractors, community groups, individuals, and regulatory agencies to plan, discuss, and coordinate capital projects.
- Reviews and provides technical input, in relation to the Parks and Forestry Division mandate, on drawings, reports and other works performed by consultants for park and open space contracts, and through the City’s subdivision/site plan development and Environmental Assessment processes.
- Conducts or coordinates field studies (Environmental, Engineering, Archaeological, Surveying, CSA Safety etc.) as required by Federal, Provincial, and Municipal policy and regulatory processes.
- Prepares and sends out public notices in accordance with policy and procedures for parks and open space projects and projects in other divisions as required.
- Facilitates, develops, prepares for and coordinates various public meetings, open houses, workshops, design charrettes, surveys and web questionnaires.
- Prepares written reports and presentations for the Manager, Committees of Council, Advisory Committees, various steering committees, and the Utility Coordinating Committee (UCC.)
- Prepares bidding documents and technical specifications for inclusion in Request for Quotations, Request for Proposals and Tenders issued by the Purchasing and Supply Services and participates in the evaluation of proposals as required.
- Reviews and updates parks and open space design standards for the City of London Standard Contract Documents for Municipal Construction Projects, Parks Database and City asset inventories.

- Conducts municipal scans, collects information on new park amenities, construction techniques, design standards, ecological and environmental standards, and ways to improve equity and inclusion in parks across different cultural groups.
- Identifies and makes recommendations to improve processes that benefit park infrastructure, service standards and overall customer satisfaction.
- Provides technical and professional input and advice to colleagues and other City Service Areas as required.
- Completes studies and provides input and helps prioritize growth, capital and operational investment for all park assets.
- Maintains a current understanding of changes to and applies provincial legislation requirements relation to construction projects.
- Reviews and recommends new products for approval.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
