**Chief Operator**:
Mill Bay is experiencing rapid growth with many land development projects in the works and their Public Works & Operations, Water Services need to bring on a permanent full-time **Chief Operator** who will report directly to the District Manager. This non-union workplace and you will be responsible for performing the preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance activities for the Mill Bay Waterworks District’s water distribution and water treatment system for their nearly 1,000 customers.

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Level III Water Distribution Operator Certifications classified by the EOCP.
- Level II Water Treatment Facility Operator Certification as classified by the EOCP.
- Experience in technical, mechanical, and environmental aspects of a ground water distribution and treatment system while following WorkSafeBC protocol.
- Computer knowledge with SCADA software systems and Microsoft Office is required.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and mark up As-Builts.
- Understand the concepts of well/submersible pumps.
- A valid Class 5 drivers’ license.
- Friendly customer service skills are paramount for this position.

**TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Operate, maintain, and repair the water source, treatment, storage, and distribution facilities in the system.
- Maintain potable water to federal and provincial standards, as applicable, including monitoring Chlorine residuals, water sampling, and the upkeep of water quality records.
- Work with the District’s Hydrogeologist in monitoring well performance.
- Work with the District’s Engineer in the design and implementation of system upgrades and capital works.
- Supervise the meter reading and monitor results for abnormalities.
- Inspect and maintain reservoirs, well sites, and buildings.
- Address BC OneCall messages.
- Maintenance of the yards of all MBWD and SLR properties.
- Supervise and assist with recruiting staff.
