**Events and Program Director**

**Kings County Museum, Kentville, Nova Scotia**

The Kings Historical Society is currently seeking an Events and Program Director for the Kings County Museum. This is a 9-month per year position: Tuesday to Saturday (March 24 to December 19, 2025)

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
This individual should:

- be comfortable working with volunteers and other staff, as well as training and supervising summer students. (A multi-tasker is preferable)
- A knowledge of and interest in local history is essential.
- possess research skills to inform planning exhibits as well as helping museum visitors.

This position includes:

- “front of the house” reception and working with the public
- working with and assisting other staff and volunteers
- organizing and leading workshops, arrange for speakers for meetings, offer Saturday programs for kids/ families, etc.
- working with volunteers and the Board to:

- plan and mount exhibits
- plan and carry out events and fund-raisers
- preparing reports and articles for Board meetings, annual report, newsletters, etc.
- soliciting and approving columns and reports for newsletters, annual reports, etc.
- representing the Museum with the Kings Hants Heritage Connection, the Southwest Nova Scotia Curators’ Group, Council of Nova Scotia Archives and the Association of Nova Scotia Museums
- some housekeeping (janitorial duties) Shared.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- excellent presentation, communication, time management and organizational skills
- competency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- positive work ethic and people skills
- some knowledge of local history, genealogy and tourism
- experience in planning and running events
- First Aid course and WHMIS training (or willingness to obtain them)

EDUCATION: A University degree or experience in museum work would be an asset.
