Finance Manager

We are looking for a team-oriented, technology-proficient professional to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, proactive, and solution-oriented professional with exceptional attention to detail. Perennia works on a number of projects and programs in addition to offering consulting services. This position requires excellent communication skills, an interest in understanding our various projects and lines of business as well as a commitment to work collaboratively with all team members to provide accurate and timely financial information for both internal planning and reporting to funders.

Reporting to the Controller, the Finance Manager will support the operational accounting function at Perennia. This will be a full-time position with options for hybrid work depending on the location of the successful candidate. Preference would be for this position working a couple days a week from our Kentville location.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Supervise the Finance Coordinator
• Ensure accurate tracking and accounting of all time, accounts payable and receivables; review and approval of posting journals
• Preparation of project claims; project reporting and analysis, working collaboratively with project leads and managers
• Preparation of journal entries for entry into SAGE accounting system; preparation of monthly financial statements and reporting package; maintaining working papers
• Provide finance team year end audit support
• Support for monthly forecasting and annual budget process
• CRA filings as required (i.e. HST, AGR-1 forms, Excise)
• Review quotes and assist with collections process, as required
• Appreciation for our role as a partner with relevant provincial departments and a collaborative approach to working with government, industry and academia.

Requirments and Competencies

• Post-secondary degree, CPA designation with three years of post-designation experience ·
• Related work experience in a project/cost accounting environment
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a deadline driven environment
• Adaptable and flexible work ethic
• Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality
• Self-motivated and a strong work ethic with a focus in client service (internally and externally)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with Sage accounting software
• Ability to work with a high level of autonomy ·
• Familiarity with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) would be considered an asset
