We are looking for an **Assistant Manager** to join our team at **The Simple Alternative Mississauga** in Mississauga.

**This is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.**

**Funeral Service Coordination**
- Assist and collaborate with the Funeral Services Manager to:

- Provide clear work direction to staff, including managing employee relations, addressing performance, and offering constructive feedback.
- Ensure high standards of client service through effective staff organization and supervision.
- Monitor compliance with all applicable legislation, health and safety protocols, and organizational policies.
- Prepare, reviewing, and monitoring the annual operating budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and approved limits.
- Develop and maintaining vacation schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels across operations.
- Maintain accurate employee records related to time off, attendance, and adherence to organizational policies.
- Oversee and uphold adherence to organizational policies, practices, and procedures to maintain operational excellence
- Support a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.
- Plan, prepare, and facilitate staff and team meetings, fostering open communication and shared understanding.

**Client Service**
- Collaborate with the Funeral Services Manager to lead the team in providing compassionate and professional support to families, respecting the diverse cultural, religious, and personal needs of each client.
- Engage directly with families and estate representatives to present funeral services, arrange memorials, and counsel them on bereavement products and services.
- Respond to inquiries, requests, or concerns with empathy and efficiency, ensuring timely resolutions to any issues.
- Travel between work locations within the GTA to support operations and client needs as required.

**Administrative Coordination**
- Perform administrative tasks, such as generating detailed monthly reports, managing correspondence, and coordinating supplier relationships.
- Oversee the accurate and timely completion of monthly reports, ensuring submission to relevant departments.
- Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels of funeral supplies, including caskets, urns, embalming materials, and office essentials, ensuring all items are in pristine condition.
- Coordinate with suppliers to address product quality concerns, accommodate special requests, and resolve overdue orders.
- Act as the designated representative for the Funeral Services Manager during periods of absence, ensuring seamless continuity in operations.
- Collaborate with the Funeral Services Manager to collect and analyze operational data, providing informed recommendations for operating and capital budgets.

**Leadership & Team Management**
- Ensure the funeral centre consistently delivers high-quality services, exceeding client expectations.
- Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive team culture that prioritizes empathy, accountability, and professional growth.
- Collaborate with and support Meadowvale Funeral Centre to ensure timely delivery of services that meet or exceed client expectations.
- Assist the Funeral Services Manager with coaching sessions and performance reviews to provide constructive feedback and celebrate achievements.
- Guide team members in building and nurturing strong client relationships and generating referrals through professional and empathetic client interactions.
- Identify team training needs and implement tailored professional development programs.
- Encourage open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect among staff, contributing to a highly engaged and cohesive team environment.

**Other Duties**

Additional duties, and tasks that fall within the scope of the role as assigned by the Manager, Funeral Services.

**Hours/Days of Work**:
Monday to Friday

8:00AM to 4:30PM (37.5 Hours)

Occasional evenings and weekends may be required depending on business needs

**Qualifications**:

- A valid Funeral Director licence recognized by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO)
- A valid Ontario “G” driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract
- At least five (5) years of experience in a high volume funeral establishment
