Janitorial Cleaner

CBS has an opening for a **Janitorial cleaner** and **a Cleaning Team leader** for VIA Rail Ottawa Station.

The job involves making various locations including Ottawa Via Rail Station building clean on a day-to-day basis.

**Main duties**:
**Janitorial maintenance cleaner** (heavy duty):
*Sweep, wipe, wash the floors of the administrative offices, conference rooms, stairwell & employee’s cafeteria.
- Bathrooms: wash and disinfect the surfaces of countertops, sinks, mirrors, toilet bowls & urinals.

Dust and clean the metal partitions of the toilets.

Sweep and wash the floors of ceramic surfaces. Restock the supplies of paper and soap.
- Dust furniture in offices and conference room & pass a damp cloth on surfaces, disinfect all touch point areas of the office’s, cafeteria.

vacuum carpets, area rugs and upholstered furniture.
- Clean and disinfect the public areas.

*Pass the floor machine & polish the floor on occasion.
- Pick up and empty the trash & recycling bins, bring to the appropriate outdoor container.
- Clean the windows of the main entrance doors.

*Neutralize calcium on the floor & winter carpet surfaces.

*Dusting & cleaning the surfaces of the office chair legs.

*Kitchen: spot clean wall surfaces, clean & disinfect cabinet doors, drawers, counter surfaces, kitchen sink, tables.Clean interior & exterior of refrigerators & microwaves.

**Requirements and working conditions**:
**Education level**: high school diploma (general) preferable/or uncompleted.

**Years of experience related to the job**: 1 to 2 years experience

**Valid driving license**

**Possession of a car**

**Description of qualifications**: punctual person, good communicator. Concerned about the details. Autonomous. Able to lift safely a weight of 40lbs on occasion. Have manual skills. Ability to use a floor polisher an asset.

**Professional qualification recognized outside the University or school system**: WHMIS certificate an asset

**Heavy Janitorial Services (A)**: washing or treating floors, walls, windows, emptying garbage bins, picking up recycling barrels (heavy loads to carry), dusting non-accessible areas on the floor, etc.

**Cleaning Team leader**:
**Summary**

Cleaning Team Leaders are responsible for allocating cleaning areas to staff, carrying out daily inspections to ensure that cleaners are cleaning the premises effectively, and ensuring that operators follow health and safety procedures. Cleaning Team Leaders are responsible for ordering stocks of cleaning products. Cleaning team leaders are responsible for ensuring that all cleaners are trained and that their workload is manageable.

**Responsibilities**

Cleaning team leaders have overall responsibility for day-to-day cleaning operations to keep the building and surrounding area clean and safe. They are always required to undertake cleaning tasks in the building, but they also have the additional responsibility of supervising the cleaners in their team. Cleaning team leaders are the front-line staff and ambassadors of the CBS brand. Cleaning team leaders have overall responsibility for day-to-day cleaning operations. They ensure that the building and its surroundings are clean and safe for people to live or work in. Cleaning Team Leaders will undertake cleaning tasks in the building but have additional responsibilities such as administration and supervision. Cleaner Team Leaders will look for opportunities to interact with the customer in a positive way to enhance their experience with CBS. Cleaner Team Leaders are responsible for maintaining assigned areas to a very high standard.

**They must**:

- Record and report any health and safety issues that may arise within the estate
- Represent the brand positively at all times
- Provide an excellent experience for all customers and guests
- Use all assigned equipment safely and ensure it has passed through cleaning
- Use all PPE required and provided for all tasks
- Follow all legislation relevant to the delivery of all assigned tasks, such as WHMIS
- Provide weekly inspection reports to cleaning manager
- Monitor / report staff absences / delays
