Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results
People:
- Create a positive team member experience.
- Along with the practice Principal, and the Director, Grants, meet and develop relationships with all key grants Ministry, departments and institutions on an on-going basis.
- Client Relationship Management: This is a client facing role and the Manager will be required to manage client demands and expectations effectively. They will develop strong working relationships with clients to ensure project completion and be able to communicate the Firm’s value proposition effectively to clients.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop and cultivate relationships with program contacts and decision makers to inform positioning and insight into program requirements, guidelines, and processes.
- Team Management: Oversee and support a team of direct reports as applicable. Support onboarding of new hires and ongoing development of existing team members. Support professional development plans, deliver training, and provide feedback to management. Maximize employees’ potential and help them amplify their contributions to support organizational success.
- Documentation Development: Development of a range of training documents as needed for the company. This can include style guides, formatting guides, quick reference materials, process guidelines, and other writing documents. The goal is to develop a more formal library of reference material to support on-boarding and on-going training.
- Organization Alignment: Improve organizational effectiveness as guided by organization culture, values, strategy, and processes through aligning human behaviour. Assess where positive change is required and develop a plan for effecting required change.
- Strategic Planning: Liaise with the Director Team to ensure practice alignment with strategic and organizational goals of the practice and the firm.
- Team Meetings: Regular and ongoing meetings with Directors, Senior Managers, Senior Consultants, Consultants, BDs, and practice Principal(s) to review projects, strategy, and deliverables.
Proposal Preparation, Writing and Submission of Business Cases and Funding Proposals (50%): Either on their own or with a Manager, work on the preparation and submission of funding proposals. This includes synthesizing project information gathered from research, client meetings, notes from the sales team or Manager, and previous funding proposals. A Manager will review work and provide feedback for changes or improvement before submitting. Tasks include:
- Information Gathering and Analysis: Direct client engagement, company and project information gathering, project scoping and strategizing, and communicating program and project details with client and the government program staff.
- Research and Analysis: Research through a variety of online sources, market reports, client data, and interview notes to develop a coherent narrative for a funding proposal.
- Monthly/quarterly Targets: Workload management to ensure the team’s monthly and quarterly targets are regularly met, as well as troubleshoot any challenges that arise.
- Project Management: Balance writing and project lead workload. This role involves leading and writing multiple, concurrent projects and ensuring the final product meets internal and client standards.
Progress Monitoring (15%)
- Progress Monitoring: Review and monitor KPIs and firm targets. Analyze raw data from CRM and provide feedback to Directors and Principal(s) on status and progress to target.
- Risk Management: Additionally, the Manager will also strategically highlight risk management issues and identify how New Programs could be positioned optimally for enhanced performance of our business and customer care. Propose effective changes to match business requirements, optimizing team performance.
- Administrative duties: CRM recordkeeping/forecasting and reporting to senior management.
- Other: Special projects, high priority items - including, working with Senior Managers, Senior Consultants, and Consultants to ensure Salesforce/CRM is up to date weekly and monthly for forecasting purposes.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business/Administration, Accounting, Finance, English or Journalism is required. Prior experience in Grants, as well as broad business experience and business plan writing would be strong assets.
