Lead Ict Technician

Graves is currently seeking an experienced Lead ICT Technician to join our growing team in the Halifax N.S. Area. As a Lead ICT Technician, you will be responsible for installing and troubleshooting voice, data and Wireless networks. You have strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively assign tasks and duties to Level 1 & 2 Technicians. You have advanced knowledge of telecommunications systems & components, Canadian Electrical Codes as they pertain to telecommunications cabling, and telecommunication industry standards and regulations. You possess excellent customer relation and organizational skills and are able to lead a team of technicians on multiple sites simultaneously. This position offers training and advancement opportunities.
This is a permanent, full-time position. The Lead ICT Technician will be involved in all facets of installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting communication and low-voltage cabling infrastructure (fibre & copper) throughout commercial, enterprise, industrial, manufacturing, government, healthcare and multi dwelling unit (MDU) buildings in new construction, renovation, and expansion projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
- Lead structured cabling projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with project managers, clients and other stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
- Delegate tasks to Level 1 & 2 Technicians, providing guidance and support throughout the project.
Installation and Maintenance Oversight:
- Oversee the installation, termination and testing of structured cabling systems, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
- Conduct quality checks and inspections to verify compliance with industry standards.
- Troubleshoot complex connectivity issues and provide solutions.
Documentation and Reporting Management:
- Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of all installation activities, including as-built drawings, test reports and material usage.
- Review and approve reports from Level 1 & 2 Technicians, providing feedback as needed.
- Prepare comprehensive project progress reports for stakeholders.
Training and Mentorship Leadership:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the structured cabling team.
- Conduct training sessions on advanced cabling techniques, best practices, and safety protocols.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
Project Management and Coordination:
- Develop project plans, timelines, and schedules, ensuring all tasks are completed according to plan.
- Allocate resources effectively and monitor project progress closely.
- Communicate project updates and milestones to stakeholders, addressing any issues or concerns.
- Report project progress and budget utilization to the project manager.
Safety and Compliance Leadership:
- Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Ensure all team members follow safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Verify compliance with industry standards and regulations, conducting regular safety audits.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices related to structured cabling.
- Implement improvements to existing processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and propose new solutions to meet client needs.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to test, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues.
- Ability to manage workload to ensure jobs are completed on time and budget.
- Job planning skills according to desired timelines, including the dissection of blueprints.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces or isolation
- Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to - carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment and/or tooling.
- Self-disciplined, motivated and organized
- Basic computer processing skills to submit time sheets and progress reports
**Requirements**:
- Advanced knowledge of telecommunications systems and components, ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings, familiar with working in a construction environment.
- Supervisory or team lead experience.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract, reliable transportation to arrive to job sites on time.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on emergency call outs as required.
- Willingness to travel.
