**The position**
JOB TITLE: Language Coordinator
LOCATION: Campbell River
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
WORK HOURS: 25 hours per week
COMPENSATION: Based MISA Wage Grid, Level 4
***: The Language Coordinator is responsible for coordinating activities of the Language program and teaching informal language. The Language Program includes Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and the delivery of the Informal Language program. The Coordinator will supervise LINC staff, Intake worker, and coordinate and deliver the Informal Language program with volunteers.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Program Supervision**
- Act as On-Call LINC instructor as needed. Deliver LINC orientation information to students.
- Plan appropriate activities/field trips/presenters to complement curriculum activities
- Ensure documentation of formal and informal assessments, including progress reports.
- Ensure class attendance records maintained
- Ensure compliance with funder requirements and agency policies and protocols
- Monitor and follow up, as needed, on student attendance and classroom participation
- Recruit, onboard, and support classroom volunteers
**Coordination - Student/Class/Program Management**
- Manage student intake for LINC classes (including waitlist management if necessary)
- Arrange and acquire class space and materials
- Advise students and volunteers of class cancellations (ex. Snow closure).
- With LINC Assessor, arrange and coordinate placement assessments and assign students to class levels
- In cooperation with the Human Resources and Volunteer Manager, ensure there are volunteer classroom assistants as needed and that they receive appropriate orientation and volunteer appreciation. Participate in hiring LINC intake and teaching staff.
- Provide supervision to the LINC intake staff and volunteers.
- Manage annual performance reviews and quarterly professional development plans with LINC intake staff.
- Manage conflict or situations of a sensitive nature, in consultation with Executive Director
- Review and approve LINC progress reports and learner certificates
- Consult and collaborate with Executive Director, advising on policy, best practices and other information sharing
- Complete appropriate reports and evaluations
- In cooperation with the Lead Teacher, arrange in-house training and professional development
- Receive and send referrals (Settlement and Home Study)
**Informal Language Program Management - Campbell River & North Island**
- Organize and support informal language learning activities, focusing on improving clients' language skills outside of formal classroom or workplace settings.
- Organize and support Conversation Group classes to assist eligible clients at all language learning levels, with a focus on community integration, workplace skills, and language support
- Coordinate one-to-one volunteer matching for clients to strengthen integration and learning opportunities
**Record Keeping & Service Support**
- Supervise the Intake worker to ensure accurate data management
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and final reports related to provincial and federal funding.
- Assist with ensuring that all reporting requirements tied to program funding are met.
- Participate in program evaluation and assist with responding to evaluation results (e.g., client outcome surveys, satisfaction surveys, service delivery assessments).

- Support the collection of client success stories and impact data for reporting and stakeholder engagement purposes.
