**Indigenous Programs Coordinator**:
Core to the University of Saskatchewan’s Strategic Plan, and true to the spirit of Indigenization, decolonization, and reconciliation is the College of Education’s institutional commitment to Indigenize academia. Recognizing the prominence of Indigenization as a strategic pillar, the College of Education continues to enhance programs and initiatives in Indigenization, as well as build new, innovative programming and initiatives. Part of the new programming and initiatives include the Indigenous Languages Certificate (ILC) program, courses in Indigenous curriculum pedagogy, an Indigenous Science Methods course, a Master’s of Indigenous Land-Based Education program, and a Master’s level cohort in Indigenous Leadership.

**Primary Purpose**: The Indigenous Programs Coordinator serves as an administrative support for undergraduate and graduate Indigenous programing in the College of Education, in particular community-based, land-based and language-based programs. This position supports faculty and staff in the administration and coordination of on and off-campus Indigenous programing and services offered by the College of Education and serves a student advisory role in this programming. This position reports to the Dean of the College of Education and receives direction from the Dean as well as some faculty within the College.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Dean or designate, the responsibilities of this position are diverse, complex and detailed oriented. This position exercises professional judgment and supports the Dean in interpreting academic policies and procedures in handling student academic issues related to the community-based, land-based and off-campus undergraduate and graduate Indigenous programing in the College of Education. This position requires the development and maintenance of collaborative relationships with a range of personnel within the College and University, as well as groups and agencies external to the University, in particular Indigenous communities. Off-campus and distance education can be a politically sensitive arena therefore tact, diplomacy and cultural sensitivity are critical in this position. Working conditions require flexibility and the ability to meet deadlines with accuracy in a fast-paced environment. There are administrative duties; advisory/counseling duties; and liaising and public relations requirements to this role. Some travel will be required within Saskatchewan.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Assist with the coordination and delivery of community-based and land-based programs in the College by:

- Acting as a primary contact for community-based and land-based partners and for the day-to-day support needs of students
- Assisting in the development of partnership agreements
- Providing high-level academic counseling services to students and directing them to the appropriate College or campus supports
- Ensuring the orientation needs of community-based and land-based students are effectively met through supporting the development of resources and information packages and at times through presentations which may require some travel
- Assist with on-going assessment and analysis of community-based and land-based programs, including compilation and analysis of statistical data
- Build relationships with communities for recruiting students
- Coordinating work with Elders
- Other duties as assigned

Provide administrative support for the delivery of community-based and land-based programs in the College by:

- Working with department supports to:

- Prepare confidential letters such as academic standing and letters of permission
- Assisting with and ensuring that travel claims are processed for expenses for students and instructors
- Monthly reconciliation of all program funds including tracking revenues, expenditures and keeping records
- Assist with instructor appointments including sessional lecturer recruitment by:

- Scheduling and participating in meetings with on-campus and off-campus interest groups
- Coordinate promotional materials and activities by working with the College Communications team
- Support student notification regarding impending deadlines, scholarships, opportunities and program activities
- Other duties as assigned

**Education**: Undergraduate degree in Education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience are required. Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, protocol and perspectives is also a requirement. Knowledge of the College of Education courses, policies and degree requirements, a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain such and knowledge of the schools, school systems and school curricula in Saskatchewan are assets.

**Licenses**: A valid class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
