**Duties and Responsibilities**
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll data, including timesheets, deductions, and adjustments for permanent, part-time, and seasonal staff.
- Ensure payroll compliance with Collective Agreements, employment terms, and legislative requirements.
- Prepare statutory documents such as T4s, ROEs, and reports for taxes, pension plans (e.g., OMERS), and Statistics Canada.
- Assist with accounts payable by preparing and processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and managing payment discrepancies.
- Assist with accounts receivable by preparing customer invoices, recording payments, and resolving outstanding balances.
- Liaise with managers, timekeepers, and vendors to ensure accuracy of payroll and financial submissions, and resolve discrepancies.
- Handle employee inquiries related to payroll.
- Assist with year-end payroll processing and ensure payroll system integrity.
- Support reconciliation of accounts and preparation of financial reports as needed.
- Process petty cash reconciliation for USC Clubs.
Customer Service:
- Assist and provide support to the Senior Financial Officer and the Accounting Manager as required.
- Liaise with and correspond with A/P vendors on behalf of The USC, Departments and Clubs.
**Qualifications**
- One to two years of experience in payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and/or accounting.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or minimum two year accounting diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of payroll and accounting software (e.g., ACCPAC/SAGE) and proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as Google Workspace.
- Must demonstrate a positive, inclusive attitude, superb interpersonal, and organizational skills.
**Key Relationships**
- Internal: Managers, Coordinators, USC Executive, Full-time Staff, Part-time staff, USC Clubs
- External: A/P and A/R vendors, A/P and A/R customers, Western staff, Financial Institutions, Government agencies
**Working Conditions**
- Frequently sitting in front of the computer terminal for extended periods, frequent interruptions and noise, light lifting.
- Fast paced and exciting work environment with the opportunity to have a unique experience every day.
- Working Hours 8:30am - 4:30 pm.
- This position is in-office.
Pay: From $52,020.57 per year
