Business Analyst

We are looking for a
**Business Analyst **for a
**12-month contract position** in
**Victoria, British Columbia.**
**Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.**

**Remote work available with occasional travel to site.**

**Role Description**
Under the direction of the Senior Project Manager, the Business Analyst will be responsible for assisting Records Services in establishing the digital archives, including by integrating and operationalizing the Digital Archives SaaS Solution within the organizations information management ecosystem. The Business Analyst will provide analysis services and suggest strategies to stakeholders and organization executives in relation to the Digital Archives Project while reviewing and advising on business processes and operational models. The Business Analyst will assist in diagnosing business and technology risks associated with the project.

**Role Responsibilities**
- work with members of the technical architecture team assigned to the Digital Archives Project.
- work autonomously and as part of a larger team, as required.
- contribute to, advise on and, where appropriate, lead the creation, evaluation and development of implementation plans, roadmaps and proposals in accordance with information management and information technology standards and best practices.
- possess a working knowledge of Agile development methodology and work with cross-functional Agile teams to
- understand business objectives so as to generate project information, action items, schedules and deliverables for the team.
- monitor the progress of the Digital Archives Project and provide timely statement report to team leaders designated by the organization.
- set up preparation activities during the deployment phase (pre-planning and backlog grooming activities) for the project and operationalizing the Digital Archives SaaS Solution.
- attend daily SCRUM meetings and other Agile ceremonies, including retrospectives.
- create and maintain product/project backlog, while being the primary resource responsible for story mapping including user flows aligned to business value statements.
- track all aspects of project implementation.
- help define functional training requirements and co-develop training materials with team members.
- work with the Solution Architect and the project team to estimate and plan volume of effort and prepare standard project planning documents based on, for example, effort vs duration vs elapsed time.
- help establish and monitor performance metrics and key performance indicators for the project.
- draft non-functional requirements for the Digital Archives Project including system quality attributes such as usability, security, reliability, performance, availability and scalability.
- prepare functional requirements for the project team and ensure that relevant documentation is accessible to all team members, while following security and confidentiality policies and protocols.
- assist project personnel in reviewing and evaluating proposals in relation to the Digital Archive Project including the technical viability of the proposals.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Certified Product Owner (SCPO).
- Degree in Computer Science, IM/IT, Business Administration, or related discipline; OR Diploma in Computer Science, IM/IT, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- 5 years of experience within the past seven (7) years working on major IM/IT projects.
- Demonstrated experience working as part of Agile project management team.
- Experience implementing SaaS solutions for large and medium sized organizations.
- Experience navigating project critical processes such as privacy and security risk assessments and SaaS integration and authentication processes.
- Working knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL, records management software, and new system software that is adaptable to SaaS solutions.

**Desired Skills and Experience**
- A working knowledge of:

- international preservation standards such as ISO 14721:2012 Open Archival Information System (OAIS) Reference Model.
- XML based metadata schema i.e. METS and PREMIS and EAD or ISAD(G), or RAD metadata standard.
- components of a digital object and their importance to Ingest, preservation, and access of digital packages (SIPs, AIPs, and DIPs).
- digital archive processes that support transfer, preservation, and access of digital records.
