Saint Benedict Parish is seeking for a reliable Music Coordinator. The Music Coordinator at SBP has a passion to lead people into worshiping God through the gift of music. They understand that music can be both a form of praising God and an experience of God’s love for us. They will create opportunities for people to encounter God through many different styles of music that we value at SBP, including contemporary and traditional.
The Music Coordinator will be responsible for leading a team made up of volunteer parishioners who are trained and entrusted musicians and worship leaders to oversee 3 main areas: supporting weekend Mass music ministries, special events (Alpha, Proclaim, Gregorian Prayer Night, Parish Mission, etc.), and occasional weekday Mass music ministries.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ongoing recruiting, training, and managing of the SBP contemporary choir on Saturdays at 4pm, working alongside the main coordinator, Kim Sampson.
- Ongoing recruiting, training, and managing of the SBP worship bands on Sundays at 9am and 11:30am, working alongside the main coordinator, Phil Marmen.
- Ongoing recruiting, training, and managing of the SBP traditional contemplative choir on Sundays at 4pm, working alongside of the main coordinator, Peter Togni.
- Coordinating with others and executing music at special events such as Alpha, Proclaim Nights, Gregorian Prayer Nights, and Parish Missions.
- Ongoing recruiting, training, and managing of the SBP weekday Mass music.
- A strong personal faith in Jesus and a passion for helping others discover Him and become His disciples
- An understanding and appreciation for core Catholic beliefs, including the centrality of Sunday Mass
- An understanding of and love for the Saint Benedict Parish Vision, Purpose, and Game Plan
- Experience leading music ministry
- Knowledge of current technology as it relates to music and A/V
- Skilled in time management
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability to work collaboratively with people on staff, other church leaders, and parishioners
- The leadership skills to recruit, train, and empower a team of unpaid volunteers
- Humility and teachability as an ongoing learner
The Music Coordinator is a part-time (15-20 hours/week) member of our staff team and will be supported by Tanya LeRue, our Production and Digital Mission Team Leader. They work in alignment with the Pastor and the Parish Leadership Team. They are expected to participate with the staff, including, but not limited to, team meetings, weekly staff prayer, monthly all staff meetings, and Leadership Summits. They will work on site and remotely with flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
