**The Opportunity**

We are currently seeking a **Mines Ventilation Specialist** to join our **Mines Technical Services** team in at Coleman Mine in Sudbury. This is a permanent position covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local 2020-05 United Steelworkers.

As a Mine Ventilation Specialist, you will provide ventilation technical services to the mine in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner that protects the integrity of the mine’s ventilation system. This position will report directly to the Manager, Mines Technical Services.

Additionally, in this position you will:

- Assist the Manager, Mines Technical Services with legislative compliance requirements pertaining to ventilation monitoring.
- Implement the mine ventilation execution plan with the assistance of ventilation technologists.
- Lead the mid-range ventilation planning process. Create ventilation staging plans for development and production as part of the planning cycles.
- Assist the planning team with the development of the long-range ventilation plan.
- Assist operations to ensure integrity of assets, compliance to standards and legislative requirements.
- Provide guidance to management during emergencies through coordination and implementation of the mine Emergency Fire Procedures to ensure safety of all employees during an emergency
- Develop scopes of work with respect to required ventilation studies and projects improve and optimize mine sustainability
- Assist the Manager, Mines Technical Services with the mentorship of other technical personnel to ensure ventilation systems operate as designed.

**Experience**:

- 5 - 7 years of relevant ventilation specific experience in an underground mining organization.

**Skills**:

- Knowledge of project management; ability to review mining proposals with respect to ventilation design.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ventilation modeling.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mining and environmental legislative requirements as they pertain to ventilation.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, operations and management.
