For our government Client, Department of National Defense, we are seeking (2) two Archival Digitization Specialists.

**Scope of Work**

The project aims to continue the digitization of archival materials and complete the inventory of these archives with the help of two team members. The scope of work includes adhering to digitization standards, such as image quality, file types, naming conventions, and database management. Key tasks involve scanning and digitizing various documents, preparing them for storage and web publishing, ensuring document accuracy and security, and maintaining a production rate of 1.5 boxes of documents prepared per day. Team members will work under the guidance of the Chief Archivist and Digitization Coordinator, manage time efficiently, ensure quality control, communicate effectively, and report progress regularly.

**Tasks**
- You will be required to help complete the inventory of the archives.
- Create and confirm digitization standards, including resolutions, image types, naming conventions, file structures, and maintain registry databases for digitized history and heritage material.
- Applicant will work under the direction of the Chief Archivist and the Digitization Coordinator to scan archival textual and imagery material and prepare digital documents for storage and web publishing.
- Scanning and digitization - preparing records for digitization; separating a variety of records, preparing paper documents for digitization, removing staples, binding, and removing paperclips.
- Attention to detail - to ensure that documents are correctly typed and scanned and are properly filed and maintained with reference to our retention policy.
- File uploading - performing quality control to ensure documents are scanned correctly with clear images and entered into our internal database.
- Time management - work with individuals from many sections on a variety of tasks and ensuring efficient scanning and uploading.
- Document security and confidentiality - to follow best practices for document and file security for both paper and digital documents.
- Communication skills - to communicate with the team and archives section, providing information and preparing documents to be digitized.
- An average minimum of 1.5 boxes per day of document preparation will need to be maintained.
- You will capture digital images of documents as specified by the team lead.
- You will report progress and output data into spreadsheets.
- You will perform basic image enhancement and file organization tasks.
- Any other archival tasks if needed.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 48 weeks

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
