The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a **Construction & Maintenance Equipment Operator 3**. The C&M Equipment Operator 3 will operate mid-size, power driven construction equipment (e.g. Hydro Excavator, mid-size Dozer, front end Loader etc.) in a safe and efficient manner. Check, adjust and perform minor maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment.
- Grade 12 or GED Diploma
- Valid Alberta Class 3Q Drivers’ License
- Unrestricted Level 2, Alberta Environment Water Distribution and/or Wastewater Collection Certificate.
- Two years’ experience in construction activities related to urban Water Distribution and the Collection systems. Knowledge of the methods and materials used in water and wastewater construction and maintenance activities.
- Ability to safely operate assigned equipment with a high level of skill and due diligence around people and traffic. Equipment operation is performed in an urban environment, often with a limited operating area and a significant number of underground power, gas, communication, water, and wastewater utilities.
- Ability to maintain knowledge of the operating manuals, characteristics, functions, capabilities and required maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Ability to operate other junior construction equipment, fleet vehicles and trailers.
- Ability to exert occasional moderate to heavy physical effort to perform various manual duties and use various hand tools associated with equipment operation, maintenance and other work. (e.g. Changing attachments, shovels, cut-off saw, tampers, etc.)
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather and in conditions which may be noisy, dirty, wet or disagreeable (water leaks or wastewater main repairs).
- Ability to cooperate with colleagues as a team, to understand and follow instructions and to provide guidance and instructions as required.
- Ability to respond courteously and effectively to public inquiries or complaints.

**Remuneration**:
$32.27 to $36.67 per hour

**Hours of Work**:
80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, extended shifts, on-call rotation and after hours emergency work required.
