**Job Overview**
Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH) is seeking a Director of Newcomer and Youth Services to join the MPNH Team. As a Leadership Team member, this joint role provides leadership to the organization's mission, vision, and strategic priorities in relation to the provision of settlement and youth services at Mount Pleasant Neighborhood House and in the Mount Pleasant community.

The role provides management and oversight of funding contracts, including financial monitoring and reporting, provides direct supervision to settlement program staff and works with the Executive Director in setting program direction to meet community needs, liaising with community stakeholders, representing MPNH at sector meetings.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Program Delivery, Implementation and Management**
- Provides contract management, oversight and coordination of provincial and federal settlement and youth programs provided by MPNH.
- Initiates and manages a variety of activities, projects and community events as they pertain to newcomers’ needs in the community.
- Monitor objectives, deliverables, and outcomes of the contractual requirements to meet funders’ expectations; report any service gaps and/or compliance issues to Director and assist in addressing these gaps.
- Perform administrative functions as required to ensure compliance with services contracts and grants. These include assisting with budgets, monitoring program revenues and expenses, collecting statistics, collecting stories of impact, and preparing reports for funders.
- Prepare internal and external reports and statistics as required.
- Takes lead in developing and preparing funding proposals, and identifying new funding opportunities to support project leads in sustaining community-based activities, and / or augment the project Human Resources Management
- Establish and implement an overall HR plan for the program(s), including recruitment and retention strategy, performance management and staff training and development.
- Oversees recruiting, hiring, orienting, coaching, supervising, and other HR processes for staff of the program in consultation with the Executive Director.
- Act as a resource to staff pertaining to more complex, individual cases that require advocacy and additional support.
- Collaborates with staff members from other departments within MPNH to ensure that newcomer participants can access a continuum of services.

**Community Engagement, Partnerships**
- Maintains community links and partnerships; takes a collaborative approach to service delivery. Participates in networking and sector meetings as needed.
- Works with Executive Director to strengthen and create partnerships to enhance impact of settlement services in the Mount Pleasant community with settlement and nonsettlement community agencies.
- Works with the Executive Director to participate in sectoral development initiatives and co-represents MPNH in the Vancouver Local Immigration Partnership, MAP BC and other sector-related meetings.

**Qualifications**:

- Degree in social services, social work, counselling, nonprofit management or other related field; or a combination of relevant training and experience;
- Three to five years' experience in supervising and guiding staff;
- Proven ability to manage multiple and complex programs in a non-profit setting and contribute to leadership / management team;
- A background in community-based programming, including experience in at least two of the following areas (employment and / or settlement services; youth; community development; or community-based education programs);
- Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills, and, demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and decisions;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple budgets; experience in generating funding for programs, including writing grants, proposals, identifying sponsors.
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop and support culturally safe programming;
- Strong computer knowledge and experience including MS programs, Zoom, Teams and other platforms.
- Strong writing skills and ability to produce anecdotal and statistical reports;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to decolonization and cultural safety in all facets of the position.
- Proficiency in an additional language is an asset.

**Working Conditions**:

- This is a fully in-person role with expected flexibility to work on the weekends and in the evenings if required. Remote days are possible in consultation with the Executive Director and Leadership Team.

**Compensation Program Director 1**

$37.15 - $38.45 35 hours per week

Pay: $37.15-$38.45 per hour
