**Newcomer Preteen and Youth Worker**

**Responsibilities**
- Outreach to newcomer preteens and youth in need of educational supports and/or employment training and supports.
- Provide needs assessments, information and referral, advocacy and orientation to newcomer children and youth.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate the following programs: 1) newcomer youth homework club, 2) newcomer youth/young adult pre-employment skills training program and 3) newcomer literacy programming.
- Provide translation and interpretation services to immigrants and refugees to assist them to access school and community services.
- Maintain program and participant records and statistics, and is accountable for inputting accurate data in ICARES database as well as maintaining MPNH records-keeping systems.
- Provides monthly, narrative, and statistical reports to supervisor.
- Complies with privacy legislation and all relevant regulations and policies.
- Facilitate and maintain partnerships with other organizations and community agencies working within youth employment and development.
- Connect newcomer youth to community engagement and development training and opportunities.
- Collaborate and participate in MPNH and community-wide events that support community building and development.

**Qualifications**
- Oral and written proficiency in English and a second language such as Tagalog, Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, Vietnamese or Farsi to meet the linguistic needs of our community.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Able to work in a diverse environment, with individuals and communities of all backgrounds and abilities and has a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Strong digital literacy skills and proficiency with Office 365, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and online marketing platforms such as Canva.
- Post-secondary education in child and youth care, recreation, psychology, counseling, social work, and/or community services.
- Minimum two years’ recent work experience working directly with children and youth.
- Experience, knowledge and skills in program/workshop development, program marketing and outreach, implementation and evaluation, youth skills development, peer training, 1-1 mentorship, and group facilitation.
- In-depth knowledge of community resources available for newcomer youth and young adults and understanding of Canadian immigration and child/youth welfare policies and laws.
- Successful completion of a criminal records check is required.
- BC Driver’s License, First Aid Certificate and Food Safe Certificate are considered an asset or the willingness to obtain.
- Ability to work flexible hours such as evenings and weekends, **regular Saturday availability is required for this position.**

**Terms**: This is a regular part-time position for 28 hours/week that requires consistent in-person presence at MPNH.

**Salary**:Starting wage between $24.83- $27.06, Step 2-4 or band P4 of ANHBC’s salary grid, based on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefit package including vacation, paid sick time, medical, extended health, dental, and pension plan.
