**WHO WE ARE**:
- **Rideau Transit Group General Partnership**_ _(RTG) is the Concession Company created to oversee the design, construction and financing of Phase 1, and maintenance of Phases 1 and 2 of the Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project. The company is comprised of a general partnership between SNC-Lavalin Capital Inc., ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc., and EllisDon Capital Inc. This Public-Private Partnership project has a size over $2.1B. The incumbent will work specifically for Rideau Transit Group and not any of one of the partner companies._
**REPORTING TO**
Chief Executive Officer
**THE ROLE**:
RTG is seeking an experienced safety management executive to join its team in the role of Chief Safety Officer (CSO). The Chief Safety Officer is responsible and accountable for developing the overall policy and approach to safety throughout the project.
The CSO will provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the effective identification, development, management, and assessment of Functional Safety initiatives and standards which are aligned with the Project Co’s strategic priorities and business objectives. The CSO is responsible for advising the CEO and the RTG Board on all matters of risk and safety.
Working with the safety team of its subcontractor, Rideau Transit Maintenance GP
(RTM), the CSO is accountable for the oversight and management of the project’s
Safety Management System. As the consortium’s SMS Subject Matter Expert, the CSO will coordinate with key staff to support the SMS implementation as well as the development of processes and activities.
In its role, the CSO will be the custodian for the hazard log and will coordinate all accident investigation initiatives.
**SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE**
- 15 years of experience with at least 5 of these years in positions with Safety management leadership responsibilities on rail projects.
- Local experience considered an asset.
**EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE**
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or Business Management Discipline is required;
- Background in Functional Safety Certification, per the FTA Guidebook and/or relevant CENELEC and EN Standards is required ;
- Experience with HAZID and HAZOP processes is required;
- Advanced degree such as MBA or MS preferred;
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario is preferred;
- Relevant Professional affiliations, certificates, or awards are desirable.

- Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, independence and ability to manage priorities;
- Skilled in interacting with subcontractors and with customers and customer representatives;
- Excellent communication skills and a strong, self-motivated, work ethic;

- Proficient in English speaking, reading, and writing;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work on multiple demands simultaneously.

**LE RÔLE**:
GTR est à la recherche d’un cadre expérimenté en gestion de la sécurité qui se joindra à son équipe à titre de chef de la sécurité. Le chef de la sécurité est responsable de l’élaboration de la politique et de l’approche globales en matière de sécurité tout au long du projet.
Il assurera la direction, la vision et l’orientation stratégique pour la détermination, l’élaboration, la gestion et l’évaluation efficaces des initiatives et des normes de sécurité fonctionnelle qui sont alignées avec les priorités stratégiques et les objectifs opérationnels de la société de projet. Il doit conseiller le chef de la direction et le conseil d’administration de GTR sur toutes les questions de risque et de sécurité.
