**Brief Overview**:

- As Section 35 rights holders, MN-S is the Indigenous governing body for Métis children within Saskatchewan under Bill C92. MN-S is undertaking a multi-year process to design and implement Métis specific CFS programs and services, with a particular focus on culture, language, and heritage. Under the supervision of the CFS Manager, the Director of CFS and the Director of Education, the Prevention Coordinator will be responsible for design, creation, and eventually implementation of prevention services and programs to support Métis children, families and communities throughout Saskatchewan through consultation with community. This position will work as part of an interministerial MN-S’ Child and Family Services working group. The Prevention Coordinator will provide operational support to the department and will help carry out the department’s objectives and activities. This position is based within Saskatchewan.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Consult with Métis citizens and relevant stakeholders to help create a new Métis specific MN-S CFS prevention program and service delivery model.
- Conduct analysis on and develop best practice model of service delivery.
- Ensure system design is in the best interest of the child, including but not limited to family and community.
- Consult and facilitate group and one on one meetings.
- Complete and submit program internal and external reporting, as necessary.
- Foster positive relationship with community members, leaders, and Elders, respecting and incorporating cultural practices and traditions.
- Collaborate with other departments within the Métis Nation Saskatchewan departments.
- Work collaboratively as part of an MN-S interministerial CFS working group.
- Ensure language, culture and heritage are embedded withing MN-S’s service design.
- Actively participates in program planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary degree in Indigenous Social Work/Social Work, Education, or similar field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role before with experience in community development, prevention programming, and facilitation.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered, as long as it directly relates to the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Lived experience is considered an asset.
- Advanced computer skills including knowledge of Adobe and Microsoft Office programs Outlook, Word, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint.

**Knowledge and skills**:

- Able to consistently demonstrate professionalism with a strong work ethic while maintaining confidentiality and following all MN-S policies and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a team environment with staff, other MN-S departments, and the 12 Regions under the MN-S.
- Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.
- Be familiar with Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Social Services policies and procedures under Child and Family Services.
- Métis land-based knowledge.
- Be familiar with and understand Métis barriers/issues/culture for children/youth in the CFS system.
- Knowledge and understanding of MN-S history, cultures, and values; ability to speak Michif, Cree and/or Dene will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge in Métis language, culture and traditional practices obtained through years of traditional apprentice/practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge in office procedures; ability to maintain accurate records/files and documentation; excellent communication, organization, and planning skills.

**Additional requirements**:

- Must undergo a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be willing to travel overnight
- All employees of the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan must adhere to a strict confidentially policy and will be required to sign a Confidentiality agreement.
