**Job Title**: Peer Support and Outreach Coordinator

**Contract Duration**: January 2026 - March 31, 2026
**Hours Per Week**: Up to 24 hrs/week
**Pay Rate**: $32.09/hour

The Peer Support & Outreach Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and day-to-day oversight of the CARES (Campus Allies for Resilience, Empowerment and Support) Peer Support Program. This role supports student mental health, well-being, belonging, and connection through trauma-informed, non-clinical peer-based support and proactive outreach initiatives.
The Coordinator plays a critical role in recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervising Peer Supporters, coordinating campus-wide outreach and psychoeducational programming, and strengthening referral pathways to campus and community supports. The role works closely with Mental Health & Wellbeing staff, Accessible Learning Services, Student Success teams, and community partners to ensure peer support is safe, ethical, inclusive, and aligned with college policies and best practices.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Minimum two-year diploma in a relevant health or human services program including Social Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker/Child and Youth Care, Mental Health & Addictions Worker, Social Worker (B.S.W.) or equivalent human services Degree
- Ontario Peer Development Initiative (OPDI) Certification or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent work experience providing student peer support or client peer support services, preferably in an educational environment
- Experience mentoring peer supporters preferred
- Experience planning and hosting awareness, prevention and maintenance events on topics related to student mental health & well-being
- Demonstrated understanding of referral pathways, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Must be able to reliably commute daily and/or relocate to North Bay, ON
**DUTIES**:
- Coordinate the daily operations of the CARES Peer Support Program, including scheduling, drop-ins, outreach activities, and special initiatives
- Ensure peer support services operate within a defined scope of practice (non-clinical, supportive, relational)
- Support the implementation of peer-led psychoeducational workshops, wellness programing, student engagement events
- Maintain program documentation, workflows, and reporting requirements
- Mentor student Peer Supporters
- Provide regular coaching, and reflective practice opportunities
- Support peer supporters in managing boundaries, role clarity and ethical practice
- Escalate concerns appropriately and consult with professional staff as required
- Lead outreach initiatives to increase awareness of peer support and student mental health resources
- Represent CARES Peer Support at orientations, events, classrooms and campus initiatives
- Promote inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible programming
- Maintain clear referral pathways for students requiring higher-level or specialized support
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners where appropriate
- Track service usage, outreach metrics, and student engagement data
- Support evaluation and continuous improvement of the peer support model
- Contribute to reporting for internal planning, project reports, and accountability requirements
- Ensure confidentiality, privacy and documentation standards are upheld (PHIPA/FIPPA aligned)
- Support adherence to college policies related to student conduct, safety, and respectful learning environments
- Other related duties as assigned
