POSITION: Shop Cleaner/Helper – Summer Student DEPARTMENT: Rail Mechanical LOCATION: North Bay REFERENCE: 300-04-27 SALARY: $18.10/hour WHO WE ARE: Ontario Northland Transportation Commission (ONTC) is an Agency of the Province of Ontario that provides efficient and vital transportation services. MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleaning/washing of railway equipment, coaches, parts and shop facilities Follow prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment Janitorial duties as required Performs other related duties as assigned Summer Term: May to August (4 months) REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 15 years old prior to starting date and enrolled in full-time school Preference given to students enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program, entering or finishing full-time post-secondary studies in 2026 Ability to work shift work Must be able to work full-time hours Good work ethic, energetic and enthusiastic Works independently with little supervision Previous cleaning/labour experience an asset Must be committed to Health and Safety BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: The successful candidate will need to pass the following clearances: medical, employment references and education verification.
