**OSITION**
The Wîcihîtowin Cultural Support Worker provides support, consultation, and the implementation of cultural programming related to First Nations traditions and spiritual practices as they relate to supporting our relatives who are struggling with substance dependency and mental health challenges. The Wîcihîtowin Cultural Support Worker will be responsible for supporting cultural and spiritual programming, providing support related to ceremonial protocols, and offering guidance and support for seasonal celebrations and ceremonies.

**ESPONSIBILITIES**
- Promoting the inclusion of First Nations language and teachings within the Wîcihîtowin program;
- Supporting cultural programming within STC programs, as requested by STC leadership and program leaders;
- Supporting the revitalization of traditional First Nations knowledge systems as a way to support an individual’s recovery and detox from substance dependency;
- Supporting ceremonies, seasonal observances, and traditional protocols;
- Providing advice and guidance to the program on traditional First Nations world-view, ways of knowing, and cultural protocols;
- Providing emotional support for individuals, families, or groups through a First Nations cultural model;
- Connecting individuals, families, and groups to Elders, Healers, and ceremony;
- Providing various presentations, workshops, and group programming and events, related to First Nations culture, history, world-view, and ways of being; and
- Perform other related duties as defined and assigned by the reporting Director or designate when requested

**XPERIENCE**
- Experience working in a supportive and advocacy role;
- Knowledge of First Nation values, culture, medicines, and traditions;
- Knowledge of First Nations heritage and history;
- Knowledgeable and supportive of traditional First Nations ceremonies, protocols, and cultural practices;
- Fluency and/or competencies within a First Nations language(s) is an asset;
- Acknowledge the diversity of Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions in Saskatchewan;

- Knowledge of, and experience with First Nations community and kinship systems;
- Knowledge and experience of ceremonial protocols for the three language groups that are part of STC’s member nations; Cree, Saulteaux, and Dakota Sioux;
- Knowledge of issues related to the intergenerational trauma caused by colonization.
- Knowledge of mental health challenges and substance dependence disorders considered an asset;
- Significant understanding of STC’s First Nations communities and leadership structures;
- Ability to work independently and to self-motivate;
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and the ability to multi-task;
- Knowledge of the political, social, and economic objectives of the Saskatoon Tribal Council and of the Dakota, Cree, and Saulteaux cultures will be considered an asset.
- Participate in an integrated team that implements harm reduction, detox and recovery strategies;

- Must possess a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and meet STC’s insurance requirements;
- Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector search as a condition of employment;
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends, and to perform other related duties as required or assigned.
