**Gender Based Violence Specialist and Public Educator**

**Position Summary**:
The Counselling Centre of East Algoma (CCEA) is seeking a full time creative, dynamic Gender Based Violence Specialist and Public Educator.

Over and above individual, crisis, and group counselling, the Counsellor will support the clients in their journey to choose a life free from violence using a broad holistic approach that integrates self-development and self-care, health and well
- being as well as supporting their economic empowerment.

For the clients who are looking to achieve economic self-sufficiency, the Counsellor will develop a collaborative plan of action for skill building, life skills support, computer training and job placements.

Specifically, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
**Individual, Group Counselling and Public Education**
- Create long
- and short-term plans for each counselling client. Provide on-going counselling and other follow-up services to clients and/or research and connect them to supports in the community. Conduct evaluation and outcome measurements on counselling sessions. Facilitate workshops and groups and deliver educational presentations in the community.

**Case Management**
- Assess and determine client’s needs and strengths to generate service plan. Conduct individualized safety plan with clients. Work as a team with other staff members to provide services in a holistic manner. Collect and update information and referral resources for client-related issues.

**Organizational and Administrative Duties**
- Manage documentation of cases in database system and client file accurately. Prepare performance reports quarterly and annually. Assist and participate in organizational activities such as program development, fundraising, and outreach/education events. Participate in staff meetings and case review sessions. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

**Qualifications**:

- S.W. with 3 years of professional/personal experience or M.S.W. with 2 years of professional/personal experience. Familiarity with gender-based violence issues. Experience in social services or domestic violence/sexual assault services field. Background in education, behavioral psychology, program development, group facilitation and professional training development. Experience and comfort in conducting groups, workshops, and community presentations.
- Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or equivalent.
- Excellent case management and assessment skills to be able to develop collaborative plans of change and action.
- Knowledge of sustainable livelihood framework, health, employment, environmental/gardening/healthy cooking, yoga, meditation, etc.
- Organized with ability to keep detailed records, write reports, and deliver stats in a timely manner.
- Excellent social media, presentation and promotional and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Proficient with practice management software, and specifically Caseworks.
- Leadership skills and ability to take initiative.
- Knowledge of major Indigenous and French languages an asset. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communications

**Job Status**:
**Job Types**: Full-time. This position is contingent upon ongoing approved funding.

Benefits: Benefits will include, extended health care, RRSP contributions, sick and wellness leave upon completion of probation period.

Schedule: 7-hour shift, Monday to Friday

As such, this position will involve working from home and in office as required until we transition to a hybrid work model.
