**Duties and Responsibilities**:Operations Managers of West Coast Winter Road Maintenance Corporation responsible for the following specific duties:
- Operating Snow Plows: Operations Managers will be responsible for operating snow plows and other snow-removal and de-icing equipment to clear snow and ice from laneways, sidewalks, parking lots, and other areas as needed. This includes performing routine maintenance on the plows and other equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Supervising and Coordinating Snow Removal and De-icing Team: Operations Managers will oversee a team of plow operators and ensure that they are deployed efficiently and safely. They will also coordinate with other members of the snow-removal and de-icing teams, such as shoveling crews and salt truck drivers, to ensure that operations are carried out smoothly and effectively.
- Monitoring Weather Conditions: Operations Managers will be responsible for monitoring weather conditions and adjusting snow-removal and de-icing operations accordingly. This includes assessing the severity of the storm, tracking changes in temperature and precipitation, and adjusting equipment and personnel deployment as needed.
- Maintaining Records: Operations Managers will maintain accurate records of plow usage and maintenance, as well as other relevant data such as weather conditions and personnel deployment. This information will be used to inform future snow-removal and de-icing operations and ensure that equipment is properly maintained.
- Ensuring Safety: Operations Managers will be responsible for ensuring that plow operators and other personnel are working safely and following all relevant safety protocols. This includes conducting regular safety training sessions and ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition.
- Providing Customer Service: Operations Managers will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to clients, including responding promptly to inquiries and complaints, and ensuring that work is completed to the client's satisfaction.
- Controlling Accurate Records: Operations Managers will also be responsible for controlling accurate records of the services provided and employees' working time in timesheets. This includes maintaining detailed records of the time worked by plow operators and other personnel, as well as the specific tasks they performed. They will also ensure that all timesheets are accurate, complete, and submitted on time for payroll processing. These records will be essential for tracking employee performance, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and managing the company's finances effectively.
**Working Conditions**: The Operations Manager position requires someone who is able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while ensuring that safety protocols are followed and quality service is provided to customers. It can be physically demanding, with long hours and exposure to harsh weather conditions, but it can also be rewarding, knowing that the work is critical for public safety and transportation during the winter months.
**Supervisory Responsibility**: The position requires someone who is able to effectively manage and supervise a team of plow operators, shovelers and salters while ensuring that they are providing quality service to customers and following proper safety protocols. The position involves regular communication with stakeholders, managing equipment and inventory, and providing feedback and coaching to employees to ensure they are performing their job duties effectively.
**Reporting**:Operations Managers typically report to the General Manager of the company. As an Operations Manager, you would be responsible for providing regular updates to General Manager on the progress of snow-removal and de-icing operations. This would include updates on crew schedules, plow routes, and any issues or challenges that arise. You would be responsible for reporting on the performance of shifts to General Manager. This would include providing feedback on individual performance and identifying any training needs or areas for improvement. You may be asked to participate in strategic planning meetings with our Operations Management Team to discuss short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the company. You would be expected to provide input on operational needs and requirements to ensure that the company's goals are aligned with the needs of the snow-removal operation.
