**Position**:Junior Cook

**Reporting**: This role reports into our Operations Manager.

**Company**: We are opening a Bistro/Café in the Ottawa area, offering a variety of delicious food and drink options tailored to busy business professionals.

**Salary**: Starting at $37,000 annually.

As our Junior Cook, you will be responsible to assist our Cook with proper food preparation and the delivery of high-quality menu items. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a strong interest in culinary arts to kick-start their career in a dynamic kitchen environment. Your duties and responsibilities include, but may not limited to:

- Assisting with opening and closing duties as needed.
- Assisting with preparing, cooking and assembling menu items according to our established menu and standards.
- Assisting with maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations and equipment.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
- Supporting our Cook during peak hours by expediting orders.
- Assisting with inventory management through stock rotation and replenishment of ingredients.
- Collaborating with other members of staff to ensure the kitchen and barista station run smoothly.

**What we are looking for**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent; culinary education and/or training is an asset.
- Previous experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred.
- Have a passion for the industry and a desire to pursue a career in culinary arts.
- Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety practices and principles.
- Training in all required areas (as per Ontario law) related to working in a kitchen (WHMIS, Safe Food Handling Course, etc.) is preferrable.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and eagerness to contribute to the overall success of the business.
- Our Bistro is open Monday to Friday, during regular business hours. However, we do offer catering and event services outside of regular hours, and therefore, this role will require evening and/or weekend shifts from time to time.
