Nova Scotia Health Authority provides health services to Nova Scotians and some specialized services to Maritimers and Atlantic Canadians. We operate hospitals, health centres and community-based programs across the province. This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

**Responsibilities**:
The Environmental Services Worker contributes toward the protection against cross infection while keeping the facility safe and visibly clean and is responsible for the provision of a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive environment for patients, residents, visitors and staff. Duties of the position may include any or all duties outlined in the Environmental Services Worker position description. In addition to being readily available on short notice, the position requires availability for all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

The duties of the Environmental Services Worker will be carried out in accordance with the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health Authority.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12/GED required.
- Ability to use sound judgement and initiative.
- Experience working with individuals with diverse intellectual / physical challenges.
- Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships with all levels of staff and patients/residents.
- Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to patients, staff, co-workers and the hospital.
- Good reading and writing skills.
- Previous hospital housekeeping and room cleaning experience would be a definite asset.
- Travel to other sites may be required.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

**Hours of Work**:

- Five (5) Casual relief positions

**Salary Information**:
Environmental Services Worker

$17.0904 - $17.8026 hourly
