**About the Role**:
The Student Affairs Case Coordinator supports the Director, Student Affairs with case management and alternative dispute resolution related to students at risk (at risk of harm to themselves or others) matters and on
- and off-campus disputes.

**The** **Student Affairs Case Coordinator will**:

- Contribute to Campus Assessment, Response, and Education (CARE) Case Team meetings;
- Coordinate services for at-risk students and provide case management support as needed to students that are at-risk of harm to themselves or others;
- Assess student needs, as directed by Director, Student Affairs or CARE Case Team, including completing risk assessments and related documentation, and reporting findings back to Director, Student Affairs and/or CARE Case Team to review;
- Track and follow up with students who are identified to be at risk to assess the effectiveness of strategies and identify tangible recommendations that should be brought back to CARE Case Team;
- Develop and support the Connect program by offering case management for all students requiring support and system navigation;
- Support restorative justice initiatives via hosting intake assessments, participating in restorative justice conferences, and providing ongoing case management services in support of the outcomes;
- Attend conduct hearings, track outcomes/data, and follow up with the respondents to ensure that planned outcomes are achieved;
- Track Conduct Council recommendations for Student Code of Conduct cases and follow up with the respondents to ensure that planned outcomes are achieved;
- Mediate disputes between members of the Brock community and/or landlords and student tenants;
- Work closely with the Off-Campus Living team to ensure students adhere to proper conduct in the community;
- Team with others to ensure harassment and discrimination matters are resolved in a timely and equitable manner; and
- Maintain comprehensive case documentation including intake assessments, ongoing risk assessments, and other case management documentation.

**Key Skills and Experience**:

- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
- Experience in a role supporting persons at risk of harm to themselves or others, or providing support services, with responsibility for conducting assessment, conflict resolution, community outreach etc.;
- Knowledge of current evidence-based practices, trends and issues related to student development, student misconduct, risk management, and students-at-risk;
- Knowledge of FIPPA, AODA, Health and Safety, and Human Rights legislation; and
- Exceptional conflict management skills, with the ability to diffuse, de-escalate and respond effectively in highly emotional and/or sensitive situations such as mental health issues, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, substance abuse, etc.;
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including advanced active listening skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners;
- Strong facilitation, training, and presentation skills; and
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate with tact, discretion, and diplomacy;
- Excellent judgment with the ability to effectively assess the urgency of situations and implement crisis intervention skills;
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and evaluate potential alternatives to determine an optimal outcome;
- Ability to track multiple, concurrent cases and follow up in required timelines; and
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.

**Preferred or Asset Skills**:

- Social Worker designation;
- Student development theory;
- Restorative justice procedures; and
- Skills related to data-processing and mining.

**Salary and Total Rewards**:

- Job Grade K, Salary Scale ($57,400-$98,400);
- Target Hiring Range: $57,400-$70,000
- This is a fixed-term contract that includes comprehensive benefits coverage.

Pay: $57,400.00-$70,000.00 per year
