Kennedy House - Residential Services Division is looking for dynamic, consultative, and results-oriented Developmental Service professionals to join our team in the role of Developmental Service Worker (DSW).
The Residential Services Division works in conjunction with child welfare systems and other organizations to provide individualized plans of care and support. We offer a wide range of programs including but not limited to the following: time management, hygiene, transportation, nutrition, self-growth, health & safety, financial management, purchasing and utilization of community resources, job skills & employment preparation and housing & accommodation support.
As a member of the Kennedy House Residential Team, the Supervisor is accountable directly to the Senior Program Manager. The Supervisor is responsible for managing the day to day functions of the program in accordance with regulatory requirements/licensing standards and/or Kennedy House policies and procedures. The Supervisor is also responsible for the care and safety of the clients residing in the residences, the staff and visitors in the program, and required to work under pressure, while managing conflicting demands and continually changing priorities. They must also enjoy working with people in a Residential Home/Work environment. This position is responsible for ensuring that staff and client personal and confidential information is strictly managed for each of the programs they are responsible. Supervisor and is required to adhere to the organization's policies which govern confidentiality, privacy, conflict of interest and safety expectations. This position may be privy to any and all of the strategic and operational plans, the financial performance goals, objective and results, for the Agency. Strictest adherence to the Agency's policies governing confidentiality, privacy and conflict of interest is expected of this position. This position is considered a management excluded position.
**Primary Job Functions**
The primary responsibility of the Supervisor is to manage and provide advice, guidance and expertise to the Developmental Service Workers as well as others working within the program. They are expected to have a clear understanding and ability to perform all Developmental Service Worker (DSW) expectations within the program and to fill in where necessary. They are required to provide on call emergency support to the other residential programs on a rotational basis. This position may require the Supervisor to work in a variety of environments including executing programs at multiple locations of client care.
**Key Responsibilities and Duties**
- Supports the Senior Program Manager with identifying human resources/staffing and training needs;
- Supports the Senior Program Manager with the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training processes in addition to coaching, counseling, performance management/evaluations and disciplining of front line staff;
- Coordinate the care of individuals/youth in care; Identifying program needs of individuals/youth supported, participating in the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans (ISP)/Plans of Care (POC), developing and implementing life skills programs based on the ISP /POC assisting in monitoring achievement of personal outcomes.
- Monitor and ensure that all requisite reports e.g..Incident Reports, Medical Incident Report, Medical Reports, General Occurrence Reports, daily logs, progress notes and are completed and submitted accordingly,
- File appropriate Serious Occurrence reports as required.
- Assist with case management to individuals/youth on caseload, providing appropriate personal and physical care including medication administration, crisis response, advocating on behalf of individuals/youth supported and liaising with family, medical, other professionals and other service providers to address needs.
- Manages the Schedule for ensuring that the staffing needs/allocations are adequate at all times in order to meet the needs of the client. This may include covering a DSW shift in the event of a no show, unplanned leave etc.;
- Provides direct supervision, direction and immediate feedback to the DSW's, and others, such as volunteers, students working in the program as well as providing written supervisions as required by Kennedy House.
- Track and ensure that all required training for themselves and their direct reports are completed as outlined on a yearly basis.
- Responsible for enforcing full compliance to the program's operating controls, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), policies, procedures and service standards and make recommendation for changes;
