North End Animal Hospital is currently welcoming a full-time, dependable and caring Veterinary Technician Assistant, who is interested in working with our technicians and veterinarians in a medical support role, to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and empathetic individual to join us in a very important medical support role for our hospital.
About us: Our clinic is in the heart of North End Halifax. Our new hospital has a large, bright, beautiful new space to work in. North End has been proudly an active member of our community in the Halifax Region since 2021 and strives to provide the best possible medical, surgical and dental care for small companion animals. Our hospital is within close proximity to 24/7 emergency clinic support; therefore, no on-call, no overnights, no Sundays, and no holiday schedules Nurturing a great culture is essential to our team. We are passionate about what we do and enjoy a collaborative team that focuses on how to make our work life better.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with various medical procedures
- Monitor and care for animals in the hospital, ensuring their comfort and well-being
- Prepare and maintain surgery and exam rooms and equipment
- Provide support in laboratory procedures
- Assist with client communication and education on pet care and treatment plans
- Handle and restrain animals safely and with compassion
- Perform other general administrative and medical tasks as needed
- Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary hospital
- Exceptional client service skills
- Compassion and nurturing attitude
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and adapt to changing situations
- Take initiative and work independently
- Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) program certificate an asset

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 34 - 40 per week
