**Job Synopsis**
The HR Generalist is responsible for coordinating the hiring, selection and onboarding activities, the administration of the performance appraisal review process, compensation and benefits administration, participates in administration of training and development activities, provides occupational health and safety administration services, manages HR electronic data and records including maintenance of information in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). This position reports to the Human Resources Director.
This position is based at the MCC Alberta corporate office in Calgary office, with some remote work optional, dependent on the office schedule.

**Qualifications**:
- Educational background in Human Resources Management, Recruitment and Selection, Human Resource Information Systems, Benefits Management, or commensurate work-related experience. (3+ years) of experience as a Human Resources Generalist preferably in a non-profit or retail environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills in a collaborative and diverse team environment where leadership is most effective through collegial influence rather than formal authority
- Strong skills in recruitment, selection. and onboarding
- Exceptional proficiency using a variety of standard software programs including Microsoft 365 and Teams.
- Willing to promote MCC’s theology, philosophy, and strategic goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates patience, constructive and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to work independently and prioritize a wide variety of tasks
- Respect for and maintenance of confidentiality and privacy
- Flexibility and resourcefulness in changing priorities to respond to other needs that may arise
- Exceptional organization and decision-making skills
- Valid driver's license
- Police vulnerable sector check (required upon hire)
- Legally able to work in Canada
**Key Responsibilities**
Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
- Maintain the MCC Alberta employee database and generate functional reports to assist the Human Resources Director.
- Responsible for employee onboarding related data and ensuring accurate reporting in the HRIS.
- Manage employee absences and leave process for staff, tracking all leave requests/balances and overtime accruals and balances.
- Support Performance Appraisal process for supervisors and employees including coordinating Supplemental Appraisals.
- Assist the HR Director in providing training to supervisors and team members as it relates to HRIS.
- Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
- Maintain employee training and development records in the HRIS.
Recruitment
- Conduct all pre-employment activities including criminal background checks and reference checks
- Responsible for drafting employee contracts using assigned templates
- Responsible for providing onboarding training activities for new hires.
- Maintain all pertinent applicant and interview data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
- Stay current on MCCA’s personnel policy, and federal and provincial laws regarding employment practices.
- Avoid legal challenges by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures.
Compensation and Benefit Administration
- Responsible for timely and accurate benefits and group retirement plan administration including new enrolment, termination, modifications, staff inquiries and premium changes.
- Maintain employee files in Salesforce HRIS data system to include processing and input of new hire and termination paperwork.
- Respond to inquiries from employees and managers regarding time sheets, reports, attendance, etc. in a timely manner.
- Assist payroll with monthly change report items on an as needed basis.
Administration
- Assist with reports and data analytics as requested.
- Assist with maintaining employee handbook and circulate updates as required.
- Assists with health and safety administrative tasks including scheduling staff training, maintaining health and safety records in the HRIS.
- Works closely with safety representatives to manage health and safety protocols
- Member of the joint health and safety committee
General
- Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance.
- Model non-violent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public
- Participate as a staff member of MCC in the Canadian Human Resources Network and the joint Global HR Network

Base salary: $54,000
