Job Description
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the HR Department’s administrative functions and day-to-day transactional activities. Main areas of accountability include recruitment, orientation / onboarding, exit interviews and 3-month check-ins for non administrative staff, record keeping and employee files, HR correspondence and job descriptions. The HR Generalist will also provide input within these areas to ensure HR best practice, compliance, and effective delivery of programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day operations of the HR department
Aid with clerical and technical support for HR activities and programs
Lead and assist with recruitment activities including job postings, screening resumes, pre-screening calls, scheduling and participating in interviews with various hiring managers, conducting reference checks, and preparing employment offers
Conduct and oversee orientation sessions with new hires and administer the onboarding process
Organize and maintain accurate and comprehensive employee files and HR filing system ensuring data integrity, following proper document naming convention
Mail out monthly birthday cards
Keep job descriptions current
Assist with tracking of performance reviews
Coordinate and update HR information of company intranet site
Conduct exit interviews and 4-month check-ins for non-administrative staff and provide HR Manager with analysis and recommendations
Process employee change forms, notify IT and payroll accordingly
**HR correspondence, ie**: letters of employment verification
Respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner
Work closely with and support the Senior Management Team in projects as required
Assist HR Manager with various projects and initiatives such as policy review, employee relations issues, performance reviews, and employee engagement
Perform other duties as assigned
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Adept at building rapport and positive interpersonal relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable and at ease with speaking in front of groups (facilitating new hire orientation)
Critical eye for detail, highly developed organization skills, and efficient time management skills
Proficient skills using Microsoft Office 365 and utilizing various forms of technology
Ability to prioritize and maintain pleasant demeanor within a fast-paced work environment
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
High degree of confidentiality and professionalism

Qualifications - Completion of post-secondary education in human resources management
- 2+ years of hands-on HR work experience
- Knowledge of Alberta employment standards legislation, guidelines, human rights, and other HR compliance requirements
- Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now considered an asset
- Working towards CPHR designation is an asset
- Travel to clinic locations as required
