Reporting to the Office of Indigenous & Northern Skilled Trades, the Employment Outreach Officer is responsible for developing working relationships with employers and unions, maintaining a client and employer database, and liaising between Indigenous employment service providers.
**Roles & Responsibilities**:
- Develop partnerships with Indigenous groups, unions, employer associations, employers, and project owners to facilitate training and employment support,
- Promote and raise awareness of the benefits of hiring Indigenous people at workplaces,
- Work with public, private, and Indigenous organizations as well as Trades NL’s Director of Operations and Business Development to maintain a database of pending/existing infrastructure construction projects with a focus on skilled trades forecasts,
- Network with industry, government, and Indigenous groups to ensure Trades NL Indigenous Office has the most current information and knowledge.
**Key Qualifications**:
- Knowledge of all Indigenous governments and groups in NL, labor market information, organizational structures, and responsibilities; specifically as they relate to skilled trades requirements,
- Experience in partnering and developing working relationships with industry stakeholders to promote skilled trades among Indigenous populations,
- Experience facilitating/participating in stakeholder information sessions, networking events, career fairs and related conferences,
- Understanding of construction industry and related market trends and requirements,
- Strong computer, communication, organizational and time management skills,
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team,
- A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Driver’s License,
- Demonstrated ability to listen, understand, and respond to client/employer needs,
- Strong writing skills and experience with writing reports and business communications,
- Confident public speaking and presentation skills and the ability to create and communicate with diverse groups,
- Interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with various business partners, co-workers, board members, clients, and members of the public,
- The ability to effectively communicate with work colleagues and share information on an ongoing basis.

**Salary**: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
