Location: Lakeridge Health Oshawa Site

Status: Temporary Full time - 6 months

**Salary**: $24.08 - $25.24 per hour

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the mobility team member (PSWs) will be an asset to the multidisciplinary in-patient team, to increase the patients opportunities to mobilize. The Mobility team member will engage with identified patients on a daily basis to optimize the patient's mobility to promote overall improved outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Mobility team members will collaborate with the Interprofessional team, including Nurses (RN/RPN), Personal Support Workers (PWS), Physiotherapists (PT), Occupational therapists (OT), Physio Therapy Assistances (PTA) and Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA) to identify;
- appropriate patients,
- individual mobility needs,
- safety considerations
- patient goals

Mobility team members will assist the patients to ambulate in the patient's room, in the hallway, and/or up to a chair.

Mobility team members will follow the occupational health and safety requirements of the position to maintain the safety of the patient, other staff and themselves. This safety standard includes reporting any injury or occupational hazards to an immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Successful completion of a 1 year Personal Support Worker program from an accredited Community College or educational institution accredited with the NationalAssociation of Career Colleges (NACC);
- Previous experience in a geriatric or long term care environment is preferred;
- Demonstrated compliance with and knowledge of safe work practices;
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions;
- Demonstrated empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and services for residents;
- Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job;
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past 6 months;
- Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;
- Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;
